If you like Sci-Fi and like history, give the Foundation trilogy a try. It's not actually about history, but it reads like a sort of historical fiction work. It's written by Isaac Asimov, who also authored the short story The Egg, which you can read at that link for free (that's a legit URL, I swear). If you find his writing style enjoyable, then you'll love the Foundation books. They're more like a connection of historical figures from humanity's distant future, but tied together with a very clever plot line throughout all three books. For what it's worth, I consider that trilogy to be my favorite collection of books ever. Also, if you look into it, the order of the books is Foundation, Foundation and Empire, and Second Foundation. Also, there's technically seven (I think) books in the series, but the trilogy is regarded as "canon", so to speak.

Leave my book choices out of this, Joel! Our books are the same except yours are in space and mine are in middle earth.
I might actually see if I can DL that Foundation series. Sounds good.

Read I'm the Sexiest, I know you'll love it. Its got everything you love: DBZ, homoeroticism, and ghey buttsecks. But for cereal, I would tell you to read the Index LNs for based TouMAN spreading EQUALITY, but baka-tsuki took down the original series since it got licensed for release in the US, so they no longer have it on the phone app, but you can download the original 17 novels here: http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=279159 and then get to the New Testament Novels on the baka-tsuki app. I use that **** every day to kill time at work. BTW the Index series is more of a sci-fi than a fantasy, though it has a few fantasy elements in it(namely lolmagic), that said its basically about the Magic and Science sides of the world constantly fighting eachother, which ultimately leads to WWIII(the last ~4 novels) and TouMAN just wanting to live in peace and spreading EQUALITY one punch at a time. Other BT options include High School DxD(MC likes t its....a lot, and wishes to become a Harem King. Oh and he fights people and may or may not be part possessed by a dragon. And when you get to later novels you get based Sairaorg aka Punch Wizard) or Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Desu yo(3 MC summoned to random world where they fight s hit. Really just worth it for Izayoi just not giving a f uck and wrecking everything) Note: LN=light novel, so they're all books, but on the shorter end, ~150-300 pages, so you can power through one a day if you try. For reference on DxD: For reference on EQUALITY: Just look at all that EQUALITY. Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr if you don't like reading nipnong things, go read everything Tom Clancy. I've read Patriot Games at least 10 times. I love that damn book.

Oh dookie you're actually reading it? Let me know if/when you finish the trilogy so we can freak out about the ending together.

Okay, so for whatever reason, I stopped reading shortly after my last post in this thread. I regret that now. I picked up the second book again last night and finished reading it today. Jessus Sam Fu cking Christ do I regret putting the book down. This story is damn excellent. I called the whole
Magnifico the Clown
twist, but still, it's awesome how he worked that out. I bought the third book and I'm eager as hell to start. I'm going to finish this by the end of the week dammit.

=here's some good reads, "The True History Of The Conquest Of New Spain"by;Bernal Diaz del Castillo Another good 1 is "AZTEC" by:Gary Jennings, its the 1st book in a series of 5. I highly recommend both books they are such that you won't want to stop reading them they are that good. Who doesn't like a book about forcing someone to wear another humans skin in the hot sun. Or having sex during an earthquake, then to find out your not sure which twin sister you slept with.
I might look into some of those. You're going to lose your mind when you finish the third book. Trust me.
We'll see. The series has definitely picked up in intensity but sometimes it drops momentum. I really hope you're right. Anyway, I didn't know the iRobot universe and the Foundation universe were the same. That's pretty cool. Have you read any of those? I'm starting to think I should've started with iRobot and worked my way through until the end of the universe timeline.

I thought the same thing at certain points throughout the trilogy, but without wanting to spoil anything, let me just say that some of the slower parts may end up surprising you. Anyway, I didn't know the iRobot universe and the Foundation universe were the same. That's pretty cool. Have you read any of those? I never read I, Robot unfortunately. As for being part of the same universe, only the first three books in the Foundation series are considered cannon (Foundation, Foundation and Empire, Second Foundation), so I'm not sure if it matters if you read I, Robot before or after that trilogy, particularly since in the Foundation trilogy the setting appears to be much, much farther into the future than the events of I, Robot.
