Oh my god it's so good. Just so good. The combat is so much more fluid, the guns so much more satisfying to fire, the looting mechanics are vastly improved (with such a simple tweak too, but it has a massive positive impact on gameplay). Even the character models and voice acting are great. Graphics look pretty tight on Ultra settings too, but those will always be improved by mods.
The only glitch I've had so far is when I was in the Cambridge Police Station, my Pip-Boy wouldn't display when I pressed tab. Walking outside fixed it, so I've really got no complaints.

b-but muh limited speech options.... lol nah it's too late to complain when you've already downloaded half the game. honestly i was half awake when i clicked onthis topic. i got a really excited vibe from your first two senstences, like it sounded like you busted a nut over the game, and that basically made me decide that i needed to buy it now.

Honestly the limited speech options didn't really bother me. This game seems to put more emphasis on the main character being a character of his/her own, rather than the silent self-insert character we've grown accustomed to with Fallout/TES games.
I will say that I'm starting to experience a few bugs/glitches, namely infinite loading screens that can oddly be fixed by alt-tab-ing twice (once to get out of the game, once to get in). So whatever is going wrong, the game isn't crashing, just getting stuck in a loop that alt-tab fixes. A bit annoying but otherwise not a problem.
I will say that you should download it to your SSD. Even when it isn't giving you an infinite loading screen, the loading screens are long as hell. I'm gonna have to copy my game over to my SSD tonight because it's a bit ridiculous.

I haven't really noticed many loading screens but I've only gotten to Concord after two hours of gameplay, so I'm not far into the game.

no i haven't even gotten to emerald city. im trying to do the other side quests first. got all of sanctuary done and im trying to take over the damn castle but im nowhere near high enough rank and my guns are all but useless. the queen mirelurk is wrecking me each time.
what's the best way to rank up your ballistic weapons? just modify them?

Yep. You don't have a "rank" in firearms necessarily, their base damage increases as you level up as well as when you modify them. I have a hunting rifle that does 88 damage right now.
And mirelurks are just vicious little asshats anyway, it's still hard to fight them even at level 18.

well i defeated it anyway. the strongest weapon in your arsenal is cheesing the game whenever possible. i hid in the castle walls and shot my little 10mm (it's the only gun i have tons of ammo for) at it's face endlessly through a hole in the wall. it was too big to get inside but thankfully bethesda a.i tracks you through walls and it would just come stand on the other side and let me shoot it. occasionally i'd step out really fast and throw a grenade or molotov.
i love fallout logic
also, the ghouls are scary as fuck, no? i went to the mines. i wasn't ready for the mines.

The grenades really are weird. I don't know if it's the same on ps4 but the melee and grenade are bound to the same button. You can bind them to another key but you can't separate them from each other. Pressing and holding a button takes too much time.
Also the travel arc is weird.
