The thing is, most of us old vets are just shadows of our former selves. For example, I got a new wireless router and if i have anything open or if my computer has been on for a while or if another person in my house is online my connection sucks. You can see a drop in my performance. Its also why i "leave" games a lot now. If i leave and rejoin in a bit its generally because i got dropped from the game.

If you ever play me when my connection is fresh and nobody else is on, you will notice a difference.

But if you played this game competitively and played in clan wars against WT and AoW and BC in their primes you would have seen how hard it is. A lot of the players arent up there only because they did really well and were great players, but because of how they worked as a team and were versatile in their approaches.

You on the other hand run around with an mp40 and kill people now ( 90+% of whom are horrid ) and think your awesome. Now im not gonna lie, you good, but anyone can be good with an mp40. The thompson is a more respectable gun, but its still an SMG. If your really good with something else as well, its impressive.

Umm, mp40 is a gun I normally use, but thompson I use and I am just as good. I play more with a lmg now. It's not the weapon it is the player. And you probably are a shadow of what you were. I am a shadow of what I will be. I have not own this game very long. And I expect to get better. Mp40 is a weapon that I master and everyone seems to call it a noob weapon or takes no skill. Well it requires footwork and fast calculation skills to deal with enemies. My footwork is good and is getting better that now I feel that "anyone" with a rifle (m1 garand and karabiner) can't beat me in a 1v1 if I have a smg and to refute a weapon takes skill.

It does take footwork to use MP40, you are absolutely right but,

Some people who use rifles good could possibly beat you. Of course most of them retired. I beaten several good MP40 users wit the M1 Garand and Karb in my prime but I bet I can't do that anymore.

(2x - 6)^2 + 12

SMG's usually do beat out Rifles in 1v1's.  It`s the natural order of things.

If we made a list based on potential, everyone would be there.

Basically, quit telling us how good you are, and let your playing show us how good you are.

The Top 100 is a joke.

This.

Though, I still believe that there certainly are players who were the best of all time.  Back in August, the name Somebody114 carried with it an air of pure respect from the elites and a cringe of fear from the newbs- and that was after he had stopped playing religiously.  I'd be surprised if half of the new generation has ever heard of him outside of the elite inner-circle.

In fact, I'd be surprised if any of you newer players have any real skill left to compare yourselves to.  I'm not saying you guys suck- far from it.  I respect the fact that you have your own idea of "good" and "elite".  But the truth is that, in all honesty, the players such as JK7, Ressurected, and PillowTEC are only a half as good as they used to be.

PillowTEC could kill in 4-5 shots from a BAR.  JK7 could kill in 2 from a pistol.  Ressy could half-clip with a Thompson like nobody's business.

And don't even get me started on people like Biochicken or Ingsmasha.  They're only legends now, but in their primes they were nearly unstoppable.

What I'm getting at is this: If you think you're one of the best in this game because of how well you do in public matches, you're only fooling yourself.  The people you think are good now wouldn't hold a candle to the first generation's best.  Even those of us from the first generation that play this still are pitiful compared to what we were a year ago.

Some of you second generation may be offended by this.  Some may not believe it.  But to those of us who were around a year ago-- to those of us who knew a score of +2 in an elite DM was grounds for great respect, and a score of -5 was expected from even the best-- this is a truth that will stay with us throughout our gaming career, however long (or short) it may be.

DAMN......nice essay....

Turbo, I already proved myself as good to some elites. Don't need to prove it to everyone. I am not saying I am a elite, but a possible addition to the top 100 of all time. If not now then another time when I play more. I consider myself good at moh for owning it way shorter than most great players. I should be more humble and say that I could be a top 100 in the future. I am doing fine at moh. I like the elite players playing me because if I lose I get better. I can last in elite dm's or tdm's. I want to someday play in a elite player only tdm. I think I will do fine or good. All I need is more time and tips from players way better than me.

Thanks chizzle, cronnuggs, ressurected, caspro, dreamr, heatmaster9 and tri-3dge whoever you are. You all tought me and I hope to not let you down.

Apparently you haven't proven yourself, because no old elite has given you a nomination for being elite.  You're good, but "good" doesn't cut it.

And, from what I've seen of you, you aren't really good enough for your attitude.  You can stack teams, but anyone can do that.  Again: whining about it here will not get you any credit.  You want recognition?  Play on the losing side.  Be the only one on your team of 16 to be in the positives while all the good players are raping your teammates.  Beat elites in 1 vs. 1's.  Prove your teamwork in 2 vs. 2's.

You're only hurting your chances of being acknowledged by claiming your better than someone.  Arrogance is your worst enemy when it comes to respect, and respect is what you need to be on one of these lists.

Besides, if the day comes that you are named "elite", you'll find that it just means you transfer from your public bubble to a bubble of higher competition.  It's not glamorous or exciting, it's simply an title- nothing more, nothing less.  Maybe you'll be remembered for a short time, but once the next game comes out you'll find yourself in the same struggle.  Take it from someone who knows: being called "elite" means nothing; winning an elite DM means everything.  You don't need praise to make you elite.  Let your playing do the talking.
