My XBox broke for the 2nd time, and I am not sure if I should get a new 360 or buy a PS3.
The Free Multiplayer I like, but I Xbox Live is Amazing.
What should I get?

well if the xbox has already broke on you twice, i'd say the ps3, plus the ps3 has many other things it can do other then just play a game

Pay the $99.00 it costs to get microsoft to repair it. You will get your console back, a 1 Year waranty, and a free month of XBL. Seems like paying out $99 is cheaper than buying something 2-4 times as much

damn, i was going to make a topic w/ the same title but there is already one here.
I am going to buy one or the other (PS3/360) in about a week or two and I just wanted to get some input from you guys who have owned/played both systems.
I loved my PS2 until it died and would love to play the newer versions of some of my favorite games like: Gran Tourismo (sp?), God of War, and a few others. I also want Blue-Ray cuz I haven't even seen anything in 1080p on my big bad new LCD.
My problems w/ the PS3 are price and the online gaming. Is Xbox live really that much better? I don't want to pay for it and I'm not as **** a gamer as most of you so I'm not sure I really need Xbox live over PSN.
The last thing I'm wondering about is streaming content from the consoles to the TV. Does anyone do this w/ their systems? If so, what was your experience w/ it like?
I would love some good feedback on this guys, seriously. thanks, sorry for the long ass post

I own the ps3, but before I bought it I got a 300 dollar bluray player from costco, then I found on craigslist somebody selling a brand new still in box ps3 with gift receipt for 300. So I took back the bluray player to Costco and got the ps3. I couldnt be happier with the ps3 especially since they make updates for the firmware of the bluray player, also love the fact that I can just use my blutooth cellphone earpiece to talk in games on. I truly believe that the ps3 is worth the money especially if your into movies, make sure you get hdmi cable though.

Friends vs cost I think. More of us have 360's for sure but the games are 60$ and XBL cost $50/year. I got the 360 because that is what my son wanted it as most of his friends play there.

It comes down to personal choice. i was going to buy my bros ps3 off of him when metal gear came out. I had it for about a week beat metal gear and didnt touch it after. I played resistance and wasnt impressed. most people online dont have mics anyway i was trying to message people with text the whole time. I ended up getting the xbox when tekken6 was announced for xbox since thats the game im anticipating to this day. IT was a plus that more of my family and friends have 360s and even more of a plus that so many MoHers have them. I watch movies on my xbox using a usb micro sd adapter...avi mpeg wmv w/e it playes them. I dont really stream but i think tyson does. plus there is the whole netflix thing on the xbox if your into that . i play my mp3 playing while in game and what not.

well 1st thing is 1st. The cost. xbox (250)+ XBL(50) + (you might need it or not, for me i would) wireless adapter (90)= 390 Ps3 (400) +................= 400 A lot of people say that the xbox is a lot less money, but for some ppl like me, they are about the same.
Games Xbox-- Halo, Gears of War, Bioshock Ps3-- MGs4, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2
Online They are both pretty much the same thing except for minor things. For Example, in COD waw for the xbox you can see the leaderboards for specific game modes, for the ps3 you can't. IMO $50 is'nt worth those minor diffrences
Movies and Songs The Ps3 has a built in Blue Ray and you can get free songs easily in only a matter of minutes. You can even play songs while in game for certain games like Killzone2. The xbox im not completely sure, but i think the ps3 wins in this category.
So IMO the ps3 is better, well for me at least. I know some will disagree and fight over what i just said, but those are the facts.

PillowTEC and myself actually play both so sooner or later we'll both give unbiased opinions >_>
Here's mine anyway.
XBL is a lot more robust for teamspeak, adding friends and playing with them. As of right now you can't invite friends without the in-game invite screen (so the only thing you get out of selecting their profile is the ability to message them) so yeah, until the PS3 picks up the slack (they basically just included message feature) the 360 shits all over them in this regard.
Lag is basically equal. Time-shift lag happens more on the PS3, but hit-detection is a lot better. At least from the games I play (the AK can actually snipe, but kill cams can lag back sometimes 2-3 seconds). They're sort of equal; unless you're playing FPS games stick with the 360.
Exclusives definitely go to the PS3. The fact that they get any is awesome. L4D/GoW2/H3/Halo Wars just don't cut it. Well, L4D does but I won't ever buy/get into the rest.
Controls are basically equal, but the screwed up bumper locations **** me off on the PS3, but maybe that's just because I'm so used to the 360 >_>
Cost is equal. I paid $721 for CoD4/360 Pro (back when they were around $400), a wireless adapter, another controller, a year of LIVE and just recently a 120 g HDD.
My brother paid around $697 for his, along with CoD4 and his headset. I didn't need most of the things I bought anyway.
360 ftw in terms of online competition. As if my casual-raping PS3 CoD4 KDR wasn't a big enough indication.
So yeah. If you actually like competitive play with friends, go for a 360. Otherwise the PS3 is good.

well, thanks guys for all the input. I think my head is going to explode from trying to decide on this one. it seems like the xbox is the better online gaming system and the PS3 is the better media center (which is important to me). I always planned on getting a ps3 but just wanted to check w/ people who have owned or played both. This makes it much more difficult to decide. I'll let you know which one I pick up so you can "teach" me how to play when I get one.
@ mess, if i go w/ the xbox, i definetly wanna play some tekken against you. that was my favorite fighting game for many years.
what about racing. i love gran tourismo but it seems like the other racers have caught up w/ it now. is it not the best racer anymore?

Well you can't really say which one is better, because it depends what games you are playing ( unless you are talking about communication, like more profile customness, in which the xbox is better ) Just pick the system that you'll be happy with, which one can you see yourself waking up next to every morning with
