The online will be like CoD's where there are matchmaking and host advantage. A lot of people here didn't like CoD, because of its host advantage. It kind of ruins competitive play But on the other hand, there will be 6 players per team compared to 4 in CoD. There will still be host advantage, but it will be minimized since there are 12 total players instead of 8. FCs will be a pain. The host of each squad needs to add 6 fcs.

Redd, please post your source for saying there will be a host advantage. What I have read/viewed suggest central server hosting but I could be wrong.

I read here that it will be like MkWii's online. I haven't played Mwkii in a while. I think in Mkwii, someone has to host and then invite the players so wouldn't that mean there would be some type of host advantage? However, I'm not 100% sure. http://www.destructoid.com/interview-high-voltage-on-the-conduit-s-multiplayer-128857.phtmlThe Wii is known for being a difficult system to deal with when you are dealing with online stuff, that is can do it, but with the Wii Friend Codes, it’s not bad, it’s just…different. Can you describe the experience players are going to have to play with their friends online? What are they going to have to do? Definitely that was an area we worked closely with Nintendo on and we recognize that they had a lot of concerns for privacy and predatory issues and that sort of thing. We needed to be cognizant of that. And there weren’t a lot of templates for us to follow with previous online Wii titles. One game we did look at very heavily that we thought was a decent experience was Mario Kart, which was certainly improved over Smash Bros, which was not so good to get in and play. We think we’ve come up with something that is more elegant than Mario Kart, but it’s along the same kind of experience for gamers to get in and play. What we really want to do is make sure that once you have things set-up, it’s easy to just hop on. You know, around our office, especially right now, we are doing nightly, even within the team, multiplayer experiences. Of course Sega is running tons of online multiplayer, and it’s pretty straightforward to hop in and start playing right away. We’ve got a lot of modes for quick match, and things like that, so you can get in and start playing.

Aether PM'd this to me alright heres the link, its the 3rd paragraph http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/06/joystiq-hands-on-the-conduit-online-multiplayer/it says that and I direct quote: Choosing the online multiplayer option from the game's main menu immediately connects via Nintendo WFC to servers operated by the console-maker. At this point, players can choose to create a match, find their friends' matches or use the matchmaking system to be either automatically dropped into a game or shown matches that meet their criteria either regional or worldwide. It's pretty much what you'd expect from a modern console FPS, but not necessarily what we've come to expect from Nintendo WFC titles.

If you're able to choose which game you want to, like in MoH, then I'm guessing there won't be hosts.

no aredd its not like that, or maybe it is, it wont matter though, because a server is different from WFC, it is just connected by that. There is an server separate from the connection server. On cod the server WAS WFC, but for TC it is a completley new server. BTW since it takes moh type damage (a whole clip to kill) host advantage wont matter remeber aredd?

So there is a lobby, sort of? That sounds like a good idea. Like in MoH.

haha i think were all hoping for an MOH like game, but with better graphics, more/better levels, and no lag well there was lag in moh, but you couldnt notice it because it was consistent and everyone was at the same level of lag so it all seemed like no lag. One way to prove there was lag in moh was on village ctf. The ammo circle in the 2 houses was super lagged. Whenever I entered I would get killed by a sniper who wasnt even aiming at my direction or a grenade that went off across the map. Whenever someone else went in there all I had to do was shoot a few shots in there and they died. I didnt even have to aim at them. Lets just hope that Conduit Lag will be consistent at least if there be lag at all.

Redd, this means a central server will host not an individual console. Your quote is referring specifically for how FC's will be handled, not hosting. This will be more like MOH if it is true. One thing to remember is that even in MOH the lag was not consistent (think Kechua, Odyessy etc.). But for the first time this game will allow you to choose local, regional or international options that will limit lag caused by distance or bad infrastructure. I'm cautiously optimistic.
