Ress means how much money to ditch the free version and get the payed for version so you can double post I think... I have no idea how much it costs each month, you'd have to ask Tristan at GH. He pays for everything... top bloke.

What mod wanted an example of annoying double posting?
http://wiiunite.smfforfree3.com/index.php/topic,5440.30.html
tripple post... it could be avoided by the edit button, but when its just intentional spam the double post funtion really helps clean things up.

I wouldn't really trade double posting for paying money each month, but I guess it would make things a lot quicker too... WU is pretty slow, but imo when you only go here for like 10mins a day like me it doesn't really matter too much.

True that but SMF is free any way you go. All you need a reliable webhost. TEC Probably pays for there webhosting monthly or yearly depending on their package plan and there domain when it exipires

This is a pointless conversation.  I have been given one single example of a triple post, and nothing indicates to me that it is a problem or something that needs to be addressed.

On top of that, yes we use a sort of cheaper/cookie cutter version of smf.  However with crafty coding, someone could probably come up with a code to add to the header or footer that would allow for such a function without even using the options that smfforfree offers.  Several of the things we have added aren't actually smfforfree options, but are add ons created by html code in the header.

So rather than arguing, do these two things.  1) Show us this is a problem with ample evidence to back it up (or with enough people complaining about the double post spamming), and 2) Go out and track down the html code for such a function and I will work on adding it to the site.

I don't see a problem with double/triple posting, really.

If someone just obviously spams a topic, report it.  The mods are lax, not unresponsive.

yeah, no worries dru.  if it were as simple turning on an option, I would say go for it (and I think that was the original question).  But it isn't so I guess my answer is to not worry about it unless it is a problem.

Yeah, sorry i brought that up. I was trying to let that guy know the difference between this site and gamerhold, but it had to take me numerous posts for him to figure out. And a HTML code won't work for this solution, but the double posting thing isn't a really big issue.

hmm, just curious why the code wouldn't work.  I am by no means an expert and I learn everyday more and more as an admin.  However some of the things we have added through the use of html seem to be pretty major changes to smf itself.  I would assume combining posts wouldn't be that hard to do.  Why won't it work?  Thanks in advance if you know the answer.

Yes, HTML codes are very helpfull and powerfull to every website, but trying to create a code that add a button to the users Post Bit that will function in the right way and add another line when you click it won't work. It needs to be a PHP code placed in a file for that to work. Since admins can't access files to add the code it's not going to work if you place it i the header or the footer.

I took a picture of a f of SMF's PostBit File

The double posting code would need to be made in PHP that needs to be placed in that file.
