
I don't think so. I don't like it when they crop their ears though. It makes them look mean. Pits are great pets unless they are trained to be O-rings. They're smart and loyal as hell. Super playful. They just have a bad rep. Any dog can be an ****.
Given that I am the lawyer for our dog warden, I see a lot of dog cases. I can't count the number of people I've heard say the same thing as you, then get a pit puppy, try to raise it right to be a family dog, then have to get rid of it because it's uncontrollable, or worse yet, it attacks someone. Sure, not every pit has this happen, so you will always have some anecdotal evidence to claim, but it is FAR more common with pits than other family dogs, and the thing about pits is that when/if it does happen, they cause significantly more damage than other breeds.
I've had to sit down and talk to a family while the mother sobbed uncontrollably because the pit they were raising, doing everything by the book, just attacked their baby for no reason at all. It's not fun.
