My Question:
Thanks for the response tony. I am afraid once the game releases however there will be host advantages and hosts intentionally lagging in public servers which will result in frustration from the competitive Wii community. Hopefully you guys have done something to make the lag more bearable than it was in CoD (large amount of lag shooting with bad hosts, sometimes the connection "skips").
I have only two questions. FIRSTLY everyone is confused and been dying to know this. Will Wii Speak work in public matches (regionals and worldwides) with friends? Or is it simply restricted to private matches only? In an interview one of the people stated that it will be available to be used in Friend Matches only, which wasn't really clear. Please be specific as to when you can use it (I'm aware of proximity in FFA matches, I just want to know if it can be used in both privates and publics, and with who).
Also this is a personal question. I would like to know how the invitation system works. In Call Of Duty, it would interupt your gameplay to accept the invite, sometimes resulting in accidentally leaving a game to join a new one because it pops up right in the middle of the screen during a battle. How will you go about accepting invites to games?
We are able to invite friends of friends to matches, right? But does it show their friendcode when you invite a friend of friend? In clan wars, this could result into clans cheating by using ringers.
Also, from videos I've seen, the character limit for names is only 8, is this true? Is their a feature where you can add a clan tag in like on the 360? And are you able to rename your character without losing stats?
Thanks, you guys are the best. The customer support has been excellent, you will have no problems succeeding with the effort you guys are putting in.
HVSTony's Response This is from Rob, the lead game designer:
"It IS available in public (both worldwide and regional) matches, but yes only with Friends (people you've shared codes with) in those matches. We don't have an invite system. However, you can see from the main multiplayer page how many Friends you have online and then see from the Friend list who they are and what type of game they are playing. You can then elect to join that friend or not.
Character limit on profile names is 8; there is no ability to do "clan tags". And no, you cannot rename your profile without losing your multiplayer information.
These are all things we will be addressing in future products; however for Conduit we focused on the gameplay first and getting a good system up and running on Nintendo's servers.
IF multiplayer does well, this will give us more to push with when we want to make the experience more like other titles on other platforms."

I'm disappointed in the fact that anyone on your friend's list can join in your game. What if someone jumps into a clan war?

If the clan war is 6v6, then it isn't a problem. But if it is a 5v5 or less, then that's problem.

Well if it works like mario kart, then it won't be a problem because no one could jump into wars mid-game.
AND if the invites work like mario kart, maybe there will be no host advantage like mario kart :| maybe

oh... and... the fact that you can join off of friends is a great thing. A lot of pros will meet up in pubs .. let's hope it's not a problem for private matches.

The 8 character thing doesn't seem like a problem to me...I'd be Baw or Bizness :/ I'm leaning towards being back to Baw again though. The invite system, which isn't really an invite system, reminds me a lot of mario kart and that online was amazing.
