Lock-on is too good, but whatever we'll manage. It's nice to be able to see the targets health level anyway - although it's not very accurate... Against americans.
When i played this online first i got alot of expected lag yadda yadda, but shockingly it seemed some lagged more than me because only a few would teleport (and they seemed to have a major advantage, commonly pulling off 2:1 ratios?)... But now i just played with 2 french players (In a public worldwide game so no not a small private game), and whenever i matched up against either of these guys the connection was great, and the healthbar when locking accurate. Especially with one of the players where i simply couldn't find any lag at all (and he said the same to me). I imagine this will be alot of fun for me when released in europe.
Moral of the story: Those of you who think the lag is bad in this game should get a better connection, and play regional from july 10th (until then please play worldwide so i have SOME people to play against haha)

I just started playing today, but to be honest, I am starting to realize that lock on sucks for me. It doesn't actually lock your reticle but sort of messes with your mind thinking you are aiming at the person when you may not be. Maybe it is because I am so used to playing without any kind of lock on, but I do better without it. I'd rather just aim than control the camera with the lock on. I prefer to use the aim to control the camera. And that is really all the lock on does is control the camera. I don't see it as that big a deal. But like I said, I only have around an hour of experience so far.

*locks on to astro and kills him* ^x^ I just tried locking on without any target and it actually makes you unable to turn at all by yourself... So yeah should be easy to figure out for everyone that it does help you having the target on your screen. Don't know exactly how it works, or if it makes the target centered at all times though, but yeah you cannot turn on your own at all.

I am determined to not use lock-on at all. I use it about 50% of the time now when I get raped by other scrubs using it in close combat.
|
between the 3 of them or how ever many where there one of them could of got the gun and pointed it at him and told him to gtfo. Its that simple he would of left no one raped murdered lives saved so on and so forth daugher be eating her captain crunch the next morning

i appears that lock on just keeps them in your screen. You still have to aim at them. Plus it limits your ability to turn as you wish so I think it is a liability. Plus I am confident that as time passes, the elite players will develop strategies that will easily counter noobs using it. I just don't find it that helpful as of yet.

i agree. i like it for its health bar and thats about it. also, maybe its just me and im retarded, but dont some of the alien weapons have a tiny bit of lag, but purposeful lag because you can see the bullets better and they seem to travel slower than the human weapons. so when using lock on a lot of the bullets end up behind your opponent because your opponent moved a tiny bit since the bullet was shot. my tentative conclusion is that there might be some lag shooting required for certain alien weapons and not so much for the human weapons, rendering the lockon more useless than helpful. curious to know what you guys think because i havent played much online, only about 5 or 6 games

They do lag a bit. So does the rocket launcher when shooting at long distances. Only thing I like lock on for is the health meter. That really helps me know if I'm hitting or not.

I don't know if i think it's accurate to call it a lagshooting when you are just compensating for slow bullets. What is it you guys also sometimes say...? "Leading your shots" i think. That one would be better Anyway you can easily do that with lock-on too.
