I don't know Having a next-gen system for PS3 & Xbox 360 Would be weird IMO
Umm...why wouldn't there be? I mean, they would probably be after 2011, PS3 especially, but why wouldn't there be a console after them? Its not like they are just going to stop everything with the 360 and PS3. <_<

as long as they don't get rid of motion sensor controllers it'll pwn
If they keep the accelerometers (motion sensing mechanisms) and lose the IR sensor, I won't want it. If they lose the accelerometers but keep the IR sensor, I won't miss the accelerometers. There's plenty that can be done with motion sensing tech, but it became so great a focus that it ruined good games and tarnished the Wii's reputation, further stumping control development.

We see new 'news' about a new Nintendo system that includes better strorage and graphics but at the same time they cant make a decent game now for the Wii. The fact of the matter is....yes the wii is nice to have cuz its cheap, some games are awesome like galaxy, TP and SSBB but already we see Nintendo slipping on theri promise for a better system. I beileved it when Galaxy, TP and MP came out but since then they have made childish games that give nintendo that 'bad rep'.
No doubt if Wii 2 is real lets hope ATLEAST they can make GREAT games constantly instead of every 10 months <_<. Last thing i wanna say is even if the Wii 2 will have '360 graphics' imagine what the next Sony or Xbox will have....kinda mind blowing eh?

This just seems like another rumor to me. Pretty safe rumor. What are the odds of there not being a new Wii in 20-freaking-11. 2 years after broadcast TV goes completely digital?

The odds are much more likely than you think. The DS came out in 2004 and we are getting the predecessor in 2009 probably. Wii came out 2006, and 2011 will make it 5 years. Plus the wii is selling exceptionally well. Selling exceptionally well against strong competitors at that. But that was besides the point, I was talking about them actually having info on it. This is just speculation. Nintendo isn't going to release this much info about their console 3 years in advance.

Plus the wii is selling exceptionally well. Selling exceptionally well against strong competitors at that. No piece of the DS has made it obsolete the way the DTV transition is making Wii's 480p resolution obsolete. New television buyers are going to be screaming bloody murder about jaggies and bleeding eyes soon enough. At a minimum, Wii will get a resolution refresh, probably sooner than 2011 (hopefully with solid upconversion for older games) <--that is pure speculation, but still safe. The DS phat came out in late 2004, and it wasn't at that time even intended to replace the GBA, but to be a companion to it. The DS Lite came out 2 years later, and since then, there have been, what, 100 different colors and designs? Despite still phenomenal sales figures (even in Japan, where the market is saturated, DS still rides the top of the hardware charts), we're already getting more than a refresh. Comparisons of the needs of a console platform to a portable platform aren't that useful anyway. Nintendo has always taken a different road with their portables than with their consoles. Nintendo chose not to have HD resolution on the Wii to make a price point, and recognizing people looking for that price point weren't early adopters of the television standard, the two priorities melded nicely. But math that was smart in 2006 isn't smart post-2009, and Nintendo is watching the numbers closely. Almost a year ago, half the country already owned one HDTV--and that was when prices were twice what they are now. Prices will fall dramatically between now and the SD cutoff date. Barring a real economic depression, 5 years is plenty for vanilla Wii, even one selling super-strong. No, the odds of not having an HD-capable Wii by 2011 are not higher than I think. As for the information, obviously it's speculative, but it's not random guessing. Whattheyplay compared Nintendo's R&D investments to other times when Nintendo was preparing a new console. The increase in spending suggests they are hard at work. Sources at game companies are reporting being informed of developments (something Nintendo does have to do if they want a game lineup with the console launch). Whattheyplay isn't claiming Ninty told them anything.

And by the time this comes out a next-gen Microsoft console will have redefined what we think of when we hear 'great graphics'.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. By the time Nintendo gets this out with their 360-like graphics, the other platforms will have already advanced that and raised it up. Oh well, I don't really care about graphics much anyway, just as long as it looks decent and is playable. graphics dont really matter to me either. i still have super nintendo and those games are 3 times more fun then wii games IMO. if it had online then i would play super nintendo over wii.

Well the only thing they can really do now is make a virtual reality helmet like all 3 systems team up and make 1 awesome console for like 10,000 dollars

Yah right, a virtual reality helmet would be cool but it would be complex and etc. Plus, using something like that might be bad

Whattheyplay isn't claiming Ninty told them anything. . The DS lite was not a new system. Having a fatter stick and different colors is not a new system. And since when does nintendo give a flying **** about graphics? Do you honestly think that Nintendo is going to care that their core fans dislike their graphics? They only care about the gameplay. And how has nintendo taken a different approach to their console and portable console designs? They are trying to be "innovative" DS with the touch screen and Wii with the motion controls. Lastly, who said it was random guessing? I said it was speculation and yet you are trying to tell me how it is speculation, not random guessing. You seem to have missed my point. My point is that they don't know, this was just speculation. The person who posted this said that there was definitely going to be a new wii in 2011, and I said that it is possible that there isn't going to be. And as I said, nintendo did not tell them anything, for it is speculation. Regardless of all of your "facts", it's still possible that it will be released later than 2011. Or even earlier perhaps, who knows....But as soon as you become Reggie or Mr. Iwata, you can tell me what Nintendo is thinking. Because so far with the wii, they have not been thinking about their core fans at all.
