After Modding
Read here for instructions on how to use The Homebrew Channel & play backup games.
Now at this point your almost done. Now you should be downloading the latest homebrew applications & setting them up on your SD Card so they can be launched via the Homebrew Channel.
http://www.Wiibrew.org is a website that has information on the latest apps.
For downloading applications, you should:
1] Download
http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Browser to get many popular apps & keep them up to date, but this is an online only application
2] For those without internet, check out this
http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_homebrew_applications & get the latest emulators, media players, & utilities.
After getting whatever apps you want, you should get a boot.dol file & possibly a icon.png & meta.xml. (IMG:http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/4024/appsappsapps.png)
This file is basically the executable that runs the program on your Wii.
This boot.dol goes in a custom named folder in the (IMG:http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/4885/appso.png)folder on the root of your SD Card.
For HBC to read your SD correctly, your card must be structured SD:apps/application name/boot.dol
Here is an example of the (IMG:http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/4885/appso.png)folder on my SD Card (IMG:http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/5359/appsapps.png)
In every folder, there is a boot.dol, icon.png, & meta.xml.
For playing your disc backups, you should either:
1] Download
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=6572 & set it up on your SD card.
2] Download
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1AJET8O9 & set it up on your SD card.
3] Download
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=188378 for playing games directly through the disc channel. [read the ~censored~ readme first!]
If you have a very new Wii & it fails to run DVD backups, you may have a drive with the new D3-2 chipset. They are incapable of reading dvd's of any sort. It can still play games via USB loaders though.
For playing your backups off a USB hard drive, check out the
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=179085 to learn about the different USB loaders & how to set up your Hard Drive correctly to install games.
