Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on May 13, 2010, 10:39:13 am The new starters look fruity. I'm a fire starter fan and I just can't picture myself using that damn pig. Hopefully it's evolved forms look better.
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on May 13, 2010, 11:40:01 am its the first fire starter without an exposed flame on its body
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on May 13, 2010, 12:00:33 pm Torchic didn't have any flames either. I also hated that fire Pokemon until I saw Blaziken.

Also - BC2 is dumb, Pokemon is 1000x better. Also - check out my topic. It'll be like playing it yourself. : P Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on May 30, 2010, 03:03:45 pm yea, there are some you could sell on ebay for quite abit.....i went through and inventoried all the ones i have that i could find.....found out they were worth in excess of 400 bucks....the most expensive being like 25 bucks

and, the legendaries look stupid to me, it's like the people over at gamefreak or whatever.. are trying WAY too hard to make pokemon look epic now, and I hate that. Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Tiger on May 31, 2010, 02:08:30 am Are you guys actually into Pokemon? Isn't that show geared to 12 and under? It was cool when I was a kid but... :-\
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on May 31, 2010, 02:12:05 am i mean a week is not that long of a time dg.....and i think theyre totally baller....i want zekrom bad
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Turboweasle on June 01, 2010, 12:10:09 pm Are you guys actually into Pokemon? Isn't that show geared to 12 and under? It was cool when I was a kid but... :-\ Yeah, the show is. But the show came out after Red and Blue versions became unprecedented successes. The games are geared for people old enough to battle effectively. You ever watch a battle video on YouTube? The best trainers are upwards of 25 years old, simply because the competitive battling is so in-depth and dependent on huge amounts of micromanaging. And, back on topic: Damn! Why do we have to stay with the same starter types? I want Psychic, Dark, and Ghost types, for God's sake! Or any other combination. I'd be okay with Electric, Dragon, and Fighting. Just do something different, GameFreak. ;_; Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on June 01, 2010, 12:27:49 pm Yeah Zekrom looks tight.
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: the KR3AT3R on June 01, 2010, 12:35:02 pm You guys remind me of trekkies. :-\
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: DoubleGunz on June 01, 2010, 02:51:27 pm Nah. Water is the best type, <3.
And grass fire water has always worked. I'm glad they aren't changing it. It makes it easier to compare the generations. : D Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on June 01, 2010, 08:12:52 pm Nah. Water is the best type, <3. And grass fire water has always worked. I'm glad they aren't changing it. It makes it easier to compare the generations. : D its a tradition sort of thing and that grass fire water all have one weakness and one strength in the group.....they could do a psychic dark fighting group(psy<dark, dark<fight, fight<psy), or electric rock/ground water, but the games also tend to have very few fire, water and grass types(well maybe not water b) ) so it allows you to have arguably the best from one of the types in the game oh and they are throwing in A LOT of changes in these new games. cities are gonna be MASSIVE. pokecenter/mart have become the same building. your characters are supposedly older(yay no more 10 year old children, maybe theyll actually have ash age for once in the show). oh and there are gonna be A LOT of new pokemon, they say there will be a few of the favorites(pikachu, magikarp/gyarados, bellsprout/oddish, wurmple/caterpie/weedle, etc. are my guesses as to what stays) but the games will rely more heavily on the new ones. oh and rumor has it that zekrom may actually be an electric/dragon type....a voice actor for the show who does most of the electric types expressed interest in the voice of zekrom because of its type on their blog, the post was removed shortly afterwards. Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Marxist Dictator on June 01, 2010, 09:08:46 pm You guys remind me of trekkies. :-\ and your avatar reminds me of a broken gif, since that's what it isgo back to engaging in intercourse and all the other cool dookie you do since you're too cool to do pokemon yet have nothing better than to pass judgment on those who do. And battle sims > in-game pokemon, competition-wise. I really don't see the fun of it anymore - anyone can beat it if they grind. They need to make the AI as unforgiving as possible and have them level up as you do - so you can't just spend 20+ minutes grinding before a leader/general story-specific boss battle or play the entire game using your starter and kill other pokes with NFE moves in one hit because you're 30-40 levels above them. also the new legendaries look like yugioh except one has a giant furry dork Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: the KR3AT3R on June 01, 2010, 10:57:15 pm You guys remind me of trekkies. :-\ and your avatar reminds me of a broken gif, since that's what it isgo back to engaging in intercourse and all the other cool dookie you do since you're too cool to do pokemon yet have nothing better than to pass judgment on those who do. Only the show is actually made for the kids. I still have all my old Pokemon cards. Charizard 1st edition and stuff like that. I have some good ones, I don't remember them all though. :P
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on June 02, 2010, 01:34:01 pm the old cards are worth some money Tigershark. Look them up on ebay and youll see. I have some cards that are worth 20 bucks and up.

I was pissed.
I was actually just looking at pokemon cards online, to find sell prices... turns out almost all my EX cards are worth more than 30 each. I might be selling them soon. Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Tiger on June 03, 2010, 01:48:31 am wait....you have a holo 1st edition charizard? you do realize that thing even in horrible condition is worth like 100 bucks....price goes up for better condition I don't think it's holo but I know it's first edition. Is that still worth anything? And the card's in perfect condition. I do have a first edition Blastoise that's a holo though. It's in relatively good condition. I have 4 'ex' pokemon (all holo but I think all ex's are holo). I have Cradily EX, Hitmonchan EX, Magmar EX, and Vileplume EX.Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on June 03, 2010, 02:26:32 am Look them up on ebay or google them.

D: Oh, and searching for prices really doesn't work. I tried to find a good site for that for at least 2 hours the other day. I didn't find anything that would tell me the price I could sell these at. It doesn't work like that. Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Turboweasle on July 01, 2010, 03:43:24 pm Is there an electric dragon? Are there any cool new type combination Pokes, like fire/grass?
If not, I'm not spending my money on a new Poke game. :( Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: DoubleGunz on July 01, 2010, 04:32:21 pm Yes @ electric dragon. The legendary on the front of white is Elec/Drag.
Fire/grass would be dumb, it's too.. impossible? Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Ps358 on July 01, 2010, 06:19:17 pm the black is elec
white is fire Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on July 01, 2010, 10:45:45 pm zekrom is electric/dragon....reshiram is fire/dragon....those are the legendaries
they indroduced a ground/dark crocodile thing and theres also that tarantula thats prolly grass/electric or bug/electric Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Ps358 on July 02, 2010, 12:48:14 am bug elec
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on July 02, 2010, 09:32:26 am bug elec ya never know, could be grass, but bug/elec has been done before and theoretically grass/fire wouldnt work, but keep in mind they have done water/elec before Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Ps358 on July 02, 2010, 10:06:59 am lanturn
8) i think it could work Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Turboweasle on July 02, 2010, 10:11:31 am Sweet, Electric/Dragon sounds awesome.
Dark/Ground seems like poop, though. 2X weakness to Grass, Water, Ghost, Ice. Three of those are very common. :-\ Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on July 02, 2010, 11:37:30 am 2x to grass, ice, water, fight....ghost is 1/2 on dark
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Turboweasle on July 06, 2010, 12:22:17 pm 2x to grass, ice, water, fight....ghost is 1/2 on dark Yeah, I messed up with Ghost. But I thought Ground was resistant to Fighting. If not, that's even worse. Fighting is incredibly common in teams these days. Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on July 06, 2010, 06:53:43 pm oh im not sure if ground is resistant to fighting....but dark is weak to it
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: DoubleGunz on July 07, 2010, 01:38:58 am the black is elec white is fire Yes but the white one is on the front of Pokemon Black, and the black one is the cover pokemon for Pokemon White. Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Turboweasle on July 07, 2010, 11:04:47 am Serebii says Fighting is neutral to Ground, so that poke will have a 2X weakness to Fighting.

This is almost confusing now to figure out the weakness... :P
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on July 13, 2010, 08:39:59 pm ^you just combine the weakness/ineffectiveness of each type, not hard(x2 and x2 becomes x4, x2 and x.5 is x1)
oh and serebii just updated a butt-ton of stuff Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: DoubleGunz on July 15, 2010, 02:23:06 am Yes they did.
Triple battles FTW. That is actually something I hoped for, but never thought would actually happen. O0 Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on July 15, 2010, 10:33:40 am i effin love the mechanic for triple battles....it now makes it much more thought intensive while still keeping it fun.....now you can use moves that hit the entire battlefield(ie surf) and have them hit only a few of the pokemon out.....i always disliked double battles cuz you would get d1cked over by trying to have a perfect combo and then forgetting that one of your pokemon was weak to the others full battlefield move
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on July 15, 2010, 11:43:16 am I am liking everything about Black & White so far. Video chat, triple battles, and all the other online modes are definitely interesting.
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Tiger on July 16, 2010, 02:47:04 am ^you just combine the weakness/ineffectiveness of each type, not hard(x2 and x2 becomes x4, x2 and x.5 is x1) I know, I said almost. I still understand it. :Poh and serebii just updated a butt-ton of stuff Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on July 24, 2010, 08:33:35 pm NEW LEGENDARY REVEALED.....brings legendary total up to 3, or 5 if you count Zorua/Zoroark which are supposed to be pseudo-legendaries at bare minumum(you can only obtain them through events).......oh and the new dragon pseudo-legendary first evo has been released
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Tiger on July 26, 2010, 04:30:12 am I should get back into Pokemon again but it would take awhile, there sure are a LOT more Pokemon then there used to be... 150.
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on July 26, 2010, 08:54:09 am 493 now.....but a lot of the ones from ruby/sapphire and diamond/pearl are kinda dumb, though there are some completely baller ones(mudkip, lol)
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on July 26, 2010, 12:03:12 pm Damn Japanese people always getting the newest Pokemon games before us! >:(
Can't it be a worldwide release?! I wanna play Pokemon Black nao! I wanna use it to lure underage kids to have intercourse with me! Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on July 26, 2010, 02:14:11 pm A good article to read related to Pokemon.

Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on July 30, 2010, 11:09:43 am Yeah gamesradar likes Pokemon that they have a weekly podcast on Pokemon. Also tomorrow you can download an item from Nintendo Wifi that enbales you to catch either Latios or Latias.
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: DoubleGunz on July 30, 2010, 11:15:35 am I have both. :)
I don't do those things, plus I'm not into Pokemon right now, at all. Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on July 30, 2010, 11:00:32 pm These are special Latios and Latias I believe that know an exclusive move. All you gotta do is log on and get the item.... not too hard. Then go to Poke Mart and receive your gift.
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on August 04, 2010, 12:06:57 pm new update with some newbies, as well as the thing that will replace pokemon contests, pokemon music videos or something to that effect. also, victini has been confirmed as a psychic/fire type which makes me want one really effin bad.....woulda been even more baller as an electric/fire by combining the powers of reshiram and zekrom
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Turboweasle on August 04, 2010, 12:35:46 pm Weak to Water, Ghost, Dark, Ground, and Rock. Sounds like a bad combination, as those are really common move types.
Surf, Shadow Ball, Crunch, Earthquake, and Rockslide are pretty frequently used. Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on August 04, 2010, 12:46:31 pm Weak to Water, Ghost, Dark, Ground, and Rock. Sounds like a bad combination, as those are really common move types. Surf, Shadow Ball, Crunch, Earthquake, and Rockslide are pretty frequently used. still, it has a wide range of pokemon that are weak to it(grass, bug, fighting, poison, steel, ice). and im not saying its good for competitive battling, the only good "fairy" legendary pokemon they've made has been mew, simply cuz mew can learn anything(the other "fairy" legendaries being jirachi, manaphy, shaymin, and celebi) Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Turboweasle on August 04, 2010, 05:03:34 pm I only really consider competitive aspects of Pokemon these days. Beating the AI is so easy it might as well be taken out of the game altogether.
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on August 04, 2010, 05:26:30 pm Do you guys EV train your Pokemon?

Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on August 04, 2010, 07:59:39 pm not really, too much effort
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on August 04, 2010, 08:24:09 pm Me neither, but I might. I heard if you face Slowpoke he gives you 2 HP points. Now do you have to face only Slowpoke until you level up or one slowpoke is good enough or what?
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on August 04, 2010, 09:40:07 pm the more you train against one specific pokemon the more you get.......like if you train on pidgeys only you get some obscenely high speed EVs.....i used a 10x exp hack one time and got a +7 on speed on the level up after killin one pidgey....it was insane
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Turboweasle on August 05, 2010, 09:21:22 am You can only get so many EV points into one stat at a time, and I believe that number is 256. However, every 4 EV points translates into 1 stat point. So, you really only need to put 252 into a stat. The total EV points you can get is 510, so most people pump up two stats to 252 and one to 8.
For instance, on my Starmie, I put 252 EV points into Sp. Att., 252 into Speed, and 8 into HP. Depending on how many EV points a pokemon gives once you defeat it, you divide 252 by that number to see how many times you'll need to kill it. A Magnemite gives 1 Sp. Att. point, while Magneton gives 2, so you'll only need to kill Magneton 126 times in comparison to killing Magnemite 252 times. Get it? D: IVs also factor in, but they're pretty much luck-based, so I don't worry about them too much. One Pidgey isn't going to level you up all on its own. Unless you used berries to wipe the EVs already on whatever pokemon you were using, some EVs will already exist from the pokemon you killed before killing the Pidgey that made you level up. I would guess Raticate, as it's common and gives you two EV speed stats per kill. The hack treats each kill like you just killed ten of the pokemon. So, if you killed one Pidgey, you got 10 EV points. That is 2 Speed points right there. Couple that with you possibly using using the Macho Brace, thus doubling your Effort Points gained, that brings you up to 4 Speed points. It's also possible that you had left-over Effort Points from a previous battle that didn't quite get to 4, and you have 23 possible points. Couple that with the 10 XP thing, and you get to 29/30/31 (don't feel like doing the math). Divide that by 4, and you have 7. Has nothing to do with the EXP gained. If it did, killing a level 100 Pidgey would give your more Effort Points than a level 1 Pidgey; that is simply not how it works, as Effort Points are based on evolutionary stages and not level, thus not effected by EXP. Thanks Turbo that actually really helped. What would you recommend for Typhlosion? Sp. Attack and defense to be my main focus? Well, let's look at Typhlosion's base stats: HP (266 - 360) Attack (173 - 267) Defense (161 - 255) Sp. Attack (223 - 317) Sp. Defense (175 - 269) Speed (205 - 299) These are taken off Serebii.net, in case you want to see for yourself. The above stats are for a neutral nature at level 100. Tell me what your nature on your Typhlosion is and I can help a little more. Anyway, as you can see, Typhlosion's best stats are Special Attack, HP, and Speed, in that order. While you can boost his lower stats in order to balance him out, it's not advisable, as he would be weaker overall since he isn't specialized in one field. Since his defenses are low, he is pretty fragile; therefore, you want to avoid wasting points in Defense, Sp. Def., and HP and invest in Sp. Attack and Speed. So, throw 252 points into both of them and the other 8 wherever you want (I would suggest Sp. Def so you might be able to survive one Surf). You'll also need a moveset to go along with this build. I would suggest Flamethrower/Fire Blast (I personally opt for Flamethrower as FB seems to be too inaccurate, but there are constant debates on this topic, and it really boils down to whether you're willing to miss an attack here and there in favor of higher base damage.), Sunny Day, Solarbeam (the combo of Sunny Day and Solarbeam makes Solarbeam a one-move attack while also giving Fire-type moves 10% more damage), and Focus Blast for Rock/Dark types like Tyranitar and the ever-dreaded Blissey. That's only my suggestion, feel free to go with whatever you like. If you're playing a newer generation (the remakes of Gold and Silver, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum) you should be able to tell if the move is physical or special by looking at the info page of the attack. You'll either see what look likes a ripple in water (special) or what looks like an explosion (physical). Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on September 05, 2010, 05:00:19 pm firepig will probably be the most powerful of them all, as they typically make fire types to be.....bluepedobear will have a butt-ton of special moves and more than likely be speedy as balls.....smugsnake will probably do a lot of healing and only have like 2-3 decent attacks

156 brand new pokemon confirmed, with like 10 or so legendaries, 3 of which are event only theres a bug/electric, as well as a new dragon type, and the promise of possibly one more dragon evo chain(dark/dragon), but its highly possible kibago is the initial form of the evo chain Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: MEX on September 13, 2010, 11:12:03 am 156?! But from what i've heard is they did it to protect themselves from people playing emulated games of Black/White via the computer and taking pics of the game. You can still find pics of the new Pokemon if you search good enough. The least popular Pokemon sites should have them.
Title: Re: Official Pokemanz Thread Post by: Handass on September 23, 2010, 06:24:09 pm apparently they can put the pics back up....according to the owner, nintendo got butthurt about just a couple images and once he finds out which they are he'll toss em all back up minus the ones in question

Blastoise's traditional pronunciation (blast - oyz) is totally wrong. Blastoise is based off of the tortoise, and tortoise is pronounced like tor - tiss. Therefore, since Blastoise and tortoises share not only physical attributes but the greater part of the spelling of their names, Blastoise should be pronounced like blast - iss.
