"Also, you can effectively snipe with shotguns w/ slugs if you're a recon with mortar stikes. Use your binoculars to scope in and line up a headshot, then quickly press Y to switch to your shotty and take the shot. This is very useful for counter-sniping because snipers are usually stationary so its easy to line up a headshot plus there is no bullet drop for shotguns. "

WTF???  I'm going to have to try that.

Read it, some good stuff.  I have one to add if you dindn't know, the Carl Gustav basically doubles as a medium range snper rifle. It has a really good scope for spotting.  Sometimes I use it just to look for enemy, spot, then pull out my PP (he,he, he). The rockets do have more drop over distance than a regular sniper, but once you understand it, you can get lots of kills.

Ok, something else.  Please use your rockets/grenade launcher/mortars to blow up buildings just to clear them out.  Especially those sides that open to us as oncoming attackers or whatever.

Another thing, if you choose assault and have the grenade launcher along with extra grenade perk; drop an ammo pack first, then sit by it and start unloading rifle nades at the buildings nearby (keeps away nasty enemies and opens up for you to see just in case).  It appears that you have almost an unlimmited about of rifle nades.  It only seems to work if you have the extra nade perk, not the standard 2.

Yeah I found the extra nade spec=more tubes a couple of weeks ago and was pretty surprised.

Like I said, it frustrates me when I get in a game and players don't blow up the buildings.  So, I found it when I was in a game and we were getting beaten pretty badly, so I just sat by a flag and started nading the buildings and captured a flag and killed a few people at the same time.

i don't play conquest either.

but I joined greyhound yesterday in a conquest match and found out that if you capturing an enemy flag, you can blow up mounted guns (heavy MG, AT, AA guns) and get 100pts each for them while you waiting to capture the flag. i think you have to do it while the flag is still red.

I have 13 total flag captures in 107 hours of gameplay. At this rate I'll get that insignia just before the next Battlefield game comes out.

RECON:

crap I dont even know where to start as I have never sone one of these.

Anyways, I'll just run scenarios I guess.

I like to use semi auto rifles as it suits a long and short range style of play;  Long range as you can hit campers and base spawners from afar, and spot with the right perk which allows other snipers and players close enough to the spotted to get the kill;  Short range for when you want to defend an objective or assist teammates with motion sensors.

One thing I've learned to do, especially in the maps with more natural cover and building cover is "spam" the select button while ADS and surveying the area.  Doing this will usually uncover hidden gems (spot enemies) that are stationary and or otherwise not visible to you or teammates.  The spot is an orange triangle over the head.  When you do get a spot thats in some shrubbery of behind a thin wall, don't hesitate to shoot as you can still hit the enemy and often times kill them.  Also check your radar map often because other players are spotting on your team and may not be able to get a good shot on them whereas you can.  One rule of thumb that I always have is spot first, and then shoot.  What if you miss, or only get one hit and they hide behind something?  With the spot then someone else has the opportunity to finish him off.  Also remember to keep the spots on tanks, choppers, and UAV's. (You can shoot down UAV's on your own with 2 successful shots) By keeping the spots on these will help when you have teammates with RPG's, C-4, and anti tank mines.  You can also send mortars on tanks.  If you get good enough and there is a tank on the move, you can pre determine where the tank will be by the time the mortars are dropping and get the destroy points.

When not in a heated battle and you have a sec or two to regroup, look up to the sky and look for tracer bullets.  (its a bullet that glows and is visible to everyone.  Google it   ) You can usually find where the bullets are originating from and look to that direction and get the spot or kill.  Also, when you have a chance, after using up a few magazines of ammo and recon balls, then look to a squad mate that is running assault (if you have no mic) and hit select while aimed on him.  (if no squad mates running assault then spam select on a nearby teammate.) What this will do is alert them that you need ammo and the ammo icon will flash for you both.  By re-upping on ammo you have more chances to help out with recon balls and spots.  Remember this: ASSAULT IS A RECON'S BEST FRIEND!!! If I could, I'd pay the guys who re-up me.

Personally, my second best friend is my pistol.  I cant tell you how many times this saved my precious life in close quarter combat.  I literally laugh every time I overcome a spraying LMG medic or high powered assault rifle.  Seriously, WTF! Anyways, DO NOT BE AFRAID NOR INTIMIDATED to go into the middle of the map where full blown squads are spraying it up.  Just toss a recon ball in the direction you want to go, look for the red triangle on your radar and go in with pistol blazing. (Or VSS spraying.) Before you walk into a room, just toss a nade in to one of the windows and then go with pistol blazing.  Sometimes if you know there is an enemy squad nearby, then send a mortar strike by them, then quickly toss a recon ball, then toss your nade, and finally go with pistol. (Or VSS, shotty, or semi auto) Doing things like this can get you serious kills and points.

Also, try not to be a burden on your team.  If you get killed alot while doing gorilla warfare, then it's not necessary to respawn on one of your squadmates. You may be able to be a bit more affective from the outskirts by sending in mortar strikes and spotting if you want to do long range warfare.  If you arent set up for long range then start back at your base and try to flank around the objective and get in from another angle.  This will give you the chance to get close enough to use youre recon balls again and your squad mates will be able to re spawn off of you.

So if I think of more then I'll revise a bit, as I know it seemed as if I didn't cover every weapon in detail, but ever since I started playing FPS's, I pick a weapon that I'm comfortable with and works, and I stick wit it. "if it's not broke..."  :P

Short edit (since I'm a shotty yeilder now): If I already mentioned thios or something similar, the oh well, BUT, remember this if you're going to run and gun.  If you see teammates running in a certain direction, namely an objective, then throw a motion sensor in that direction they'll be running in.  It acts as a guide, and if they chose to, they can either take out the enemy or flank around them quietly.

Another important thing, (especially in conquest), is when you're gathering yourself and you have a moment to press start, you can look at where you have flags, and where the enemy has theirs.  Look at your squad mates, and the Bluemates (blue triangles that are teammates).  If you see the entire team either running to defend a flag, or to capture one while another is still red then you can go towards the other or defend a different flag.  I can't tell you how many times an entire team goes into an ambush to capture and the enemy just quietly runs to one left voulnerable and captures thus rendering you "spawn trap-able".
if you have a mic, let your squad know that the other squads are taking that flag and that you eother need to defend the nearest one or capture a different one.

In conquest another trick I use is when the game begins and you're capturing your first flag, you can send a mortar strike at one of the flags they're capturing or somewhere nearby when they run away towards the other flag and usually get a few kills or at least some hit detection, and then toss a motion sensor and let the mates clean house for ya.

If you knife a UAV operator, the UAV doesn't explode, but if anyone attempts to use it it will blow up and reset the respawn timer (2 minutes).

Useful for buying an extra 2 or 3 minutes of safety from the mobile spot machine. Also never use V-Alt on it because it completely defeats the purpose of it - on most maps, V-Optics are the way to go.

On maps like Arica Harbor where there is less foliage and more emphasis on vehicles, use V-Smoke to deal with enemy Engineers - a hit from a smoke rocket will kill an enemy and gives you cover as you go for roadkills. Save the rockets for tanks - a hit to the back is enough to deal with one.

And if you fly under a tank as it's going over a hill and at an angle (basically if the front treads are elevated in any way) you can tip it and cause the crew to suicide, but it's extremely difficult. If you find yourself under one, fire a rocket as it will instantly kill any tank - even one with V-Armor and full health.

This does destroy the UAV though.

The shotgun attatchment is awesome!

The extra grenade option does allow you to hold 4 rounds vs. 2 rounds standard.  Being assault, this isn't really necessary, but an option. Here's the deal, the shotgun is a OHK from medium to close range, often killing the enemy just before they get those last few bullets into your skull, therefore allowing you to stay alive to say something like, "Jesus Christ I need a medic over here!"
Now, for those of you who like the 4X scope, this makes you deadly at both close range and far away.   Think about how accurate the AN94 is at a distance, pair it with 4X and shotty...nobody is safe. I personally can't stand the 4X, I try it every once in a while, but it just frustrates me.

So, in short, if you haven't tried the shotgun attatchment, give it a try, keep it on shotty at all times, fire once, then press triangle to switch to the rifle and you're ready to take out any other guys hanging around.

yeah, it takes patience to play those shotguns, you've got one chance.  playing with the shotgun attatchment gives you a back up plan: shoot once then spray.

The first pump shotty, is just a beast at distance. MW2 had it have no range bc has it with unlimited range. Shotgun, the new sniper

Yes, with slugs there's no distance drop.  With mortar binoculars, you can line up distance shot, and switch to the shotty for the kill.  Try it some time if you have a stationary target.   O0

Yeah, just tonight we were playing conquest in Nelson bay and about 3 or 4 guys were running recon w/870's.  I got "sniped" from A to B or vice versa about 10 times.  That's bs, think about it; killing someone from one flag to the next with a shotgun.

Ive found out that if you use the smoke granades on the last set of objectives in Isla Innocentes rush it helps out ALOT.
Also in Arica conquest. Go sit in the garage near A and shoot smoke nades around the flag from inside the garage. I bet not one guy runs to A because of your distraction.

smoke nades are an awesome weapon as well as a useful attachment. They provide cover for your team, they are a one hit kill, they are embarrassing to get killed by, and they make a huge cloud of smoke when you kill someone which I think is hilarious. extra nades perk gives you extra ones and you still get to use a good gun and pistol the rest of the time. it's also got a lot better range than the 40mm shotty attachment.

smoke nades are gud

Ok, so thinking of tips and stuff lately.  Question: When using the optic zoom on vehicles, does it work for the anti-air and the Heavy MG's?

I was thinking about how in Atacama, there are those weapons in both bases.  Kind of useless unless you're spawn trapped as I was today and used them to blow up two tanks that were in our base.  Then I realized, maybe they put them there so you can attack the chopper from your base, yes?

And now I realize, if this is true, then those Heavy MG's can really do some damage in most maps.

The heavy mg on the last mcom defending is one of the most underused mgs in the game. It's like little ants trying to run at you. Sucks when one of those ants has a CG but otherwise it's duck hunt

Vehicle optics is the best perk for the UAV; spotting half the team from a mile away really helps the team out.

Not really a tip for game strategy, but more for points and leveling up.  If you didn't realize this, but getting a gold and moving on to the next weapon is a fast way to move up in level.

25kills=500pts
50kills=1000
100kills=5000

total of 6500 per weapon.

granted, every 100kills from then on is another 5000, and platinum (1000kills) is a 10000 bonus, but if you think about it that extra 1500 points for getting the first gold on all the weapons is a pretty good bonus.

GH, I don't think I have ever told you this, but you remind me of my brother. It is crazy actually. I think it is because he is a strategist of sorts also. We used to play a game together many moons ago (*coughmagicthegatheringcough*) and he used to come up with different combinations and junk all the time. He was crazy good at it, too. I swear that I used to hear him mumble them in his sleep. :P

That's how you are with weapons to me. Don't worry, I like it! ;)

I like looking at my stats and my friends stats but I could care less about damage points and ****. I do like to try to gold star everything and get all the pins/trophies though. I decided last night after playing till 3am on the 'Nam maps that I'm gonna get all those trophies and stars now when I can talk you guys into playing those maps with me.  ;)

I wish the M16 from the 'Nam mode was in reg mode  :'(

Lakkus, I have got all the gold weapons in Nam the first couple of weeks, but haven't played in a long time.  Like Kreater, I only like the Squad Matches.

As for the weapon stuff, I used to think it made a difference, but it's all about "feel" for me.

Ok, in case someone really wants more tips:

In conquest: capature the flag farthest from your base. Especially when trapped. Trying to capture the flag closest to your spawn will keep the enemy attacking, by capturing the flag closest to their base, they'll keep retreating to capture it.

Too many times, my team spends all of their energy trying to capture the closest flag and we get killed.

If you want a vehicle and some other random is willing to fight you for it, hold circle before it comes up.  When it spawns, you'll be put automatically inside of it while the others are waiting for that tip to push O if they want to go in.

I did not know that one actually. That will be useful in my tank whoring. :)

Thanks bud.

One thing I found out while playing is that you can cancel the whole Reload animation with LMGs(probably all guns) if you climb a ladder as soon as you press Square to reload. I found this out on accident to it's probably not known. Comes in handy since the reload times seem to take ages for LMGs and Snipers...problem is being near a ladder or something you can climb. XD

I don't know if anyone said this yet but, you can revive people through walls. And if you have the improved range for medkits and your squad is in a building, it's better to put the medkit in the center of the 2nd floor. That way you can heal almost everyone in the building if it's a small one. I mean that aint gonna work in the factory on the snow map, but the two buildings near the middle objective are perfect.
You know that snow map that's based off of the campain? Well, I played it on rush today and I got like 2000 or some points just cause I kept my medpack in the center and the whole enemy team and a tank of theirs kept trying to kill us when we were blowing up the mcom. I don't think I ever stopped getting heal points and my guys kept dying so that was a lot of revive points. The whole thing was only long enough to blow up the mcom but it put me way ahead of everyone else on the scoreboard.
