Title: Baseball Post by: Slaught3r on October 13, 2010, 05:45:33 am Cliff Lee is a STUD!! He looks hittable, very confused as to how he shuts down a lineup like the Rays. Any thoughts as to the Rangers chances angainst the Yanks? Being a Bosox fan our motto is like the T-shirt "My favorite team is whoever the Yankees are playing"
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: Permanent Poopface on October 13, 2010, 10:17:04 am I love watching Lee pitch, he has unreal pinpoint control
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: Slaught3r on October 13, 2010, 11:49:27 am And he only throws 91-93. Usually when your around the plate at that speed you get hit. The ball must move slightly or something.
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: dudedudedude for Moderator on October 13, 2010, 12:49:37 pm It's his placement and his cutter. Guys like Halladay, Lee ect. don't throw nearly as hard as the young guys but they have incredible cutters and change ups. Lee also never walks anybody. While his strike out tallies over the season may not be incredible, his K/BB ratio is the 2nd highest in the modern era. Watch him pitch and count how many times he gets called strikes over the corners. Rarely will you ever see the ball traveling over the middle of the plate.
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: Slaught3r on October 13, 2010, 01:09:03 pm I plan on watching him against the Yanks, probably will be game 3 starter.
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: MEX on October 13, 2010, 01:33:45 pm I'm rooting for the Rangers to beat the Yanks since they already won last year.
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: dudedudedude for Moderator on October 13, 2010, 01:40:26 pm I just want to see a Halladay vs. Lee game.
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: Slaught3r on October 13, 2010, 06:47:13 pm I just want to see a Halladay vs. Lee game. Makes me wonder why the Phils traded him, now that would have been a staff. Title: Re: Rangers Post by: Permanent Poopface on October 13, 2010, 06:56:52 pm all I have to say is i hope the Rangers get there Championship because if they don't they traded a huge part of there future just for a half a year rent a player, but if they win it all, (which is why they made the trade for Lee, (Mr. stud in the post-season)IMO it was well worth it
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: dudedudedude for Moderator on October 13, 2010, 06:59:05 pm I just want to see a Halladay vs. Lee game. Makes me wonder why the Phils traded him, now that would have been a staff. The system had no prospects. They traded all of them to get Cliff Lee and Halladay. If they wanted any kind of future, they needed to move Lee for some prospects. Title: Re: Rangers Post by: IBU on October 19, 2010, 05:45:34 am Cliff Lee was unstoppable yesterday
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: Slaught3r on October 19, 2010, 06:16:13 am Yanks gotta win three straight ort they get him again. Stud!
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: Slaught3r on October 22, 2010, 05:25:25 pm Rangers wrapping it up tonight? I say it goes seven.
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: IBU on October 22, 2010, 05:33:35 pm I'm thinking seven too :-[

Title: Re: Rangers Post by: CitizenSoldier3 on October 24, 2010, 12:45:44 pm Almost every yr the twins make it they get hosed in the first round by the yankees, so after that I always hope the yankees lose. Im waiting for the day when the royals win it all :D
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: Slaught3r on October 25, 2010, 06:30:02 am Royals may have a better chance dusting off George Brett.
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: CitizenSoldier3 on October 29, 2010, 12:44:39 am Royals may have a better chance dusting off George Brett. They have gotten better, they aren't at the bottom anymore. Title: Re: Rangers Post by: Slaught3r on October 30, 2010, 08:46:14 am Royals may have a better chance dusting off George Brett. They have gotten better, they aren't at the bottom anymore. What did I miss? Who was worse than the Royals. Rangers better pray for rain to get Cliff Lee in again. Title: Re: Rangers Post by: CitizenSoldier3 on October 30, 2010, 09:01:05 am 2 yrs ago they started coming out of last place, they were even in the middle of central AL. They out did a few teams this year.
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: dudedudedude for Moderator on October 30, 2010, 05:00:50 pm They came last in the AL Central this year....
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: CitizenSoldier3 on October 30, 2010, 07:02:07 pm ^ that's because the twins are dececnt :P
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: dudedudedude for Moderator on October 30, 2010, 07:03:13 pm I'd call it a weak division over anything else.
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: CitizenSoldier3 on October 30, 2010, 07:10:19 pm Then the al west is weak, along with nl east and nl central b)
Title: Re: Rangers Post by: dudedudedude for Moderator on October 30, 2010, 07:35:56 pm The Twins aren't a great team though, they just win against divisional opponents. If a team like New York was in the Central, they would win 100 games. Every team in the AL Central had a below .500 record against AL East opponents. Put it this way, the 4 best teams are all in the same division at this point in time.

I'm sure if any team could spend that kind of money they would make playoffs with ease. I'm sure if any team could spend that kind of money they would make playoffs with ease. This is besides the point. While I do agree their should be a salary cap in baseball, the fact remains that 4 AL East teams if they were in separate divisions would all be in the post season. Title: Re: Baseball Post by: CitizenSoldier3 on October 30, 2010, 08:30:54 pm b) red sox arent that great like a few years ago, tronto gave up their best players and Baltimore was dumpster diving now. Tampa is decent with the help of former twins. Yea I know former, but that would mean the twins aren't weak either.
Title: Re: Baseball Post by: dudedudedude for Moderator on October 30, 2010, 08:45:00 pm That had to be the worst logic I have ever seen.
Toronto gave up the best pitcher in baseball but still went 85-77 in the toughest division in baseball. Boston put up a record of 89-73. Tampa and New York were both well above .500. Only three other teams in the AL had more than 81 wins. Every other team in the AL put together a record below .500 against the AL East. It means none of them could compete with them over a full season. The lineups are deep, the arms are deep. If you made the Twins, Rangers and White Sox play most of their games against the AL East, they would not have records close to those of the Jays, Red Sox, Yankees and Rays. Title: Re: Baseball Post by: CitizenSoldier3 on October 30, 2010, 09:11:36 pm b) , yet the rangers beat the yankees and rays.
Title: Re: Baseball Post by: dudedudedude for Moderator on October 30, 2010, 09:57:37 pm It means none of them could compete with them over a full season. Title: Re: Baseball Post by: CitizenSoldier3 on October 30, 2010, 10:18:53 pm Alright then only way to settle it tell mlb to switch things around to test your theory about only al east teams being in the playoffs.
Title: Re: Baseball Post by: dudedudedude for Moderator on October 30, 2010, 11:15:18 pm There is no need to prove this as it will never happen but for the moment, the top 4 AL East teams are the best in the AL at the moment and the Royals are second worse.

That is your opinion ;) , and the royals are abit better than 2nd to last in AL. :P Title: Re: Baseball Post by: Slaught3r on October 31, 2010, 10:28:56 am I hink the Twins do well with their resources but DDD is right about the best division in Baseball. |
