Title: Goldeneye > MOHH2 and MWR & sad part
Post by: xCA3Nx on November 06, 2010, 12:00:52 am
Yeah I said it (just my opinion), tonight I fell in love with Goldeneye.  I got the feel, my settings down and boosted my k/d from 1.03 to 1.27 (510 kills).  I love the snipers and shotguns in this game.  Funny I do not like the autos similar to MOHH2, they kill quick do not get me wrong.  I have not even tried the local multiplayer yet either.  I am sure Mex, 1hitter and others will humble what skill I think I have.  This game does have one major flaw, the framerate makes the game choppy but you basically shoot right at people, no lag shooting like PS360 I think.  I guess lakkus has to weigh in on that to be fair.  I think I can play this game for a long time until ninty next gen console comes out whenever.  The pre-set control scheme I was forced to use (elektra) I will now admit is a better button layout especially having melee on the down button.  I toyed with the idea of getting a PS3 Move for upcoming FPS Move games in 2011 but Goldeneye cured any desire to migrate for me until ninty next gen console circa late 2011 or 2012.
Sad part is the WU community is fractured into 3 consoles (many long gone) and not even all the people who play Wii still will get Goldeneye due to COD/BO & headset.  My old friend Coolhand would have loved the sniper scope in this game and Ressurected (that Canadian) would have been a god with these sniper scopes.  This game is sweet but the FC list will be must shorter than WaWii and MWR b/c so many came and went.  Get Goldeneye and come pawn Caen and remind Caen what elite is...
Hint: for sniper rifles max all ADS settings and the scope is simply pawnage.

Wow glad you really like this game O0 I too have fallen in love with it.

It's sad that you are selling MWR which I will still play from to time, but never sell mohh2 my friend (you won't get much money anyways lol). That game is unsellable to me as it should be to us all.

For the first time ever us Wii players may be divided between Goldeneye or Black Ops. PS3 and 360 players have done this dance numerous times, but it will be our first for us Wii players. Sure, some of us will get both and be able to play with all our pals either way, but some won't.
Others won't get any of those two games because they have lost faith in the Wii. :-[ We hope they rent Goldeneye and see why we are so happy and come back and join us like the old days.

Caen, are you not getting Blops?...

I already own the Wii headset (black COD/BO special edition) and I will be playing COD/BO on Tuesday night and will be spraying ammo all over the place.  COD/BO and Goldeneye will give me plenty to do for some time...

Hey old buddy. I might try this game out. My only concern is that it appears to have already been hacked (according to 1Hitter).

The PS3 is great, but I do miss the Wii motion controllers.  ;)

Its because the bullets actually register when you hit someone online for the first time on Wii.  Thats what makes sniping so great.

I hope Black Ops has less lag than MWR and also sniper friendly.

It will have at least as much lag as MWR.

I would enjoy being pawned by Coolhand's sniper scope again  :)  Do not worry about hackers in Goldeneye...you only play up to 8 players so you may never see one anyway and if you do just leave and get into another game.  The lobby is similar to MWR so I do not see any issues of concern with hackers myself and I only saw it a few times in MWR and left and just found another game.  The leaderboards I am sure are hacked but that does not affect gameplay.

oh sorry guys, just saw this thread. I haven't been around here as much lately.

as far as the lag goes, I haven't seen much at all. I've seen individual players lag, but not the whole server. the frame rate kinda sucks though which isn't that bad really. I'd rather deal with a frame rate slowdown than having to lag shoot all the time like in CoD games. I like the game so far and will be playing it but I have so many great games on the PS3 that are out or coming out soon. plus, i got in on the KZ3 beta yesterday so I've been playing that since.

as far as comparing the lag to the PS3, it's almost as good as far as being able to actually aim at someone and hit them. it's not as good as the PS3, but it's the best on the Wii IMO. I just wish the graphics were a little more crisp and there wasn't such a low frame rate. the frame rate isn't any worse than CoD games on the Wii, but not as good as MoH. I think MoH was probably the best game on Wii as far as frame rates cuz it was a constant 60fps. I've heard that the new Conduit will have a good frame rate and graphics and I'm actually kinda interested to see if they improved that game enough to be worth playing now.

also, I tried the move controller out at best buy when I picked up Goldeneye. the move controller is definitely better than the wiimote by far. even in a busy store with lights everywhere, it worked flawlessly. I only played table tennis but it was bad ass. every single motion registered perfectly and smoothly. you can hit the ball with english just like in real life and every subtle move shows up on screen. I can't wait to play a good shooter on the PS3 with the move controller. I've been playing the Killzone 3 beta and I think it will be a fun game to play with the move controller cuz it's a fast paced game and it's hard to aim quick using analogs.

I probably won't buy another shooter on the wii after goldeneye honestly. I'm gonna get the move around xmas most likely and I'm praying they'll add move support to my favorite game (Battlefield Bad Company 2) but I'm sure they won't. I really hope BF3 has move support when it comes out. I may get KZ3 but I may not cuz BC2 is getting new maps soon and then the Vietnam expansion will come out later. Not to mention I got RDR zombies and of course Gran Turismo 5 is coming out. You guys may not see me for a while when GT5 comes out cuz I'll be playing that like a mofo when I finally get my copy, lol.

so, how was my tl;dr post everyone?  ;)

I wouldn't know. Your post was too long and I didn't have time to read it.

of course Gran Turismo 5 is coming out.
When?  Before Christmas?  I would not be surprised if PD delays GT5 again.

unless they announced a date today, no one knows yet. the game is finished and they are already making the blu-rays and some copies have even leaked out in Europe. it should only be a few weeks but who knows. a lot of people are saying it will be Dec 7th (which would be awesome cuz it's my bday) or Dec 23rd. they should announce the new date soon.... i hope

Just opinion.  Goldeneye is (barely) better purely from the standpoint if you shoot at someone and are accurate the other player is pawned, Goldeneye has a quick kill system.  MOHH2 was all about lag shooting, although it was addictive fun.  I constantly lag shoot just in front of players in Goldeneye and miss just ahead of them, old habits die hard -- even sniping you put the shot right on them basically.  You can shoot somebody in the back shoulder as they round a corner.  The Goldeneye formula is addictive too, I am planning on going for 100,000 sniper/shotgun kills (I wish I could play that much) before Ninty next gen comes out probably in late 2012 -- kills (and deaths) come fast in Goldeneye.  Goldeneye is not perfect because of the choppy framerate.

I thought MoH's lag shooting was kind of like a game within a game :P I love MoH more simply because it's so smooth, and the graphics don't hurt my eyes like all these other wii games. You're right, the downside was the lag shooting. I loved its zoom-able sniper rifle too :P
