Title: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: OhioLawyer on November 29, 2010, 10:45:10 am Looks like TCU is jumping to the Big East. This really opens a lot of questions, especially given the fall of the big east as a competitive AQ school, and also that they may be in trouble if more realignment happens. I think they are just trying to be proactive and attempt to avoid destruction. But if the big east still ends up gone in a few years, that really sucks for TCU.

The big east doesn't produce competitors and pros, so they are no better off. O_o
Title: Re: ***Breakind Conference Realignment News*** Post by: OhioLawyer on November 29, 2010, 12:10:12 pm yeah, honestly, they got more respect as a title contender in the MWC than they will in the big east. While now it will be easier to get to just any bcs game as the big east automatic bid, I don't think it changed their chances of getting to the title game. And all of this is predicated upon the big east actually keeping their bcs bid at the next round of conference evaluations by the bcs.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: jd111 on November 29, 2010, 12:37:39 pm What a chickenshìt move by TCU, IMO. The only reason they would join the big LEast is so they would have any easy path to BCS bowls. They know they wouldn't compete annually in any other BCS conference.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: BMan on September 19, 2011, 09:22:51 am Now Pitt and 'Cuse are headed to the ACC. Possibly UConn and Rutgers to follow?
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: the KR3AT3R on September 19, 2011, 09:58:31 am Its become such a parody. What do these guys do on weekends?
"Hey man what are you up to?" "Ah nothing, just packing up and moving to ACC." "Sweet! Can we come too?!" "Sure, why not?" >_> Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: Permanent Poopface on September 19, 2011, 10:11:29 am Looks like Texas and Oklahoma will be heading to the pac 12, holy crap that conference is loaded
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: Turboweasle on September 19, 2011, 10:18:41 am Looks like Texas and Oklahoma will be heading to the pac 12, holy crap that conference is loaded And yet the SEC still kicks their asses. Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: Baw on September 19, 2011, 02:43:38 pm All of this is just annoying. I didn't mind the Pac-12 being formed and Nebraska going to the B1G but this just getting ridiculous.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: OhioLawyer on September 19, 2011, 03:16:08 pm Nah, IBU, I think we all knew once the first domino fell that we would be eventually looking at 4 16-team conferences. It was inevitable.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: jd111 on September 25, 2011, 01:42:04 pm Looks like Texas and Oklahoma will be heading to the pac 12, holy crap that conference is loaded lol Pac 12 to OU and Texass: 'Sorry' Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: OhioLawyer on September 26, 2011, 01:02:54 pm Looks like Texas and Oklahoma will be heading to the pac 12, holy crap that conference is loaded lol Pac 12 to OU and Texass: 'Sorry' lololol Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: Permanent Poopface on September 26, 2011, 02:11:04 pm I laughed also since Texas think they are king of the world and they can get or do anything they want
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: OhioLawyer on September 26, 2011, 02:36:17 pm yeah, they may have screwed themselves with the longhorn network and find themselves out in the cold when the realignment dust settles.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: BMan on October 06, 2011, 01:49:46 pm olololololol
Big 12 announces it has extended an invitation to TCU (http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2011/10/tcu-extended-invitation-big-12-big-east/1) Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: OhioLawyer on October 06, 2011, 01:52:08 pm I saw that on my lunch break. LOL
TCU was stupid for heading for the Big East because they will soon be defunct, and they would be stupid to accept a big12 invitation for the same reason. These conferences are desperate to stay alive, but when it all settles, there will only be 4 and Big12 and Big East will be on the outside looking in. Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: jd111 on October 06, 2011, 01:58:48 pm I like TCU better than Missouri anyway. Good riddance.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: BMan on October 06, 2011, 02:05:28 pm I like TCU better than Missouri anyway. It's the purple, isn't it? :P Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: Baw on October 06, 2011, 03:55:08 pm TCU has to pick the lesser of two evils though. Right about now, Big East is much more likely to defunct (as a football conference) than the Big 12.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: OhioLawyer on October 07, 2011, 07:50:54 am news is that missouri voted to join SEC and SEC has majority of schools in favor, they just need 9 for the invite. Most likely that will happen and then what for the Big12? If texas and oklahoma leave it will HAVE to be a non-AQ conference regardless of who they add.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: the KR3AT3R on October 07, 2011, 10:32:13 am Texas to PAC 25? ^-^
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: Red Fatality on October 09, 2011, 12:09:42 pm Hopefully tcu joins b12 that would create some good rivalrys. The b12 should try and get utah, smu and houston imo
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: Handass on October 09, 2011, 01:10:21 pm Hopefully tcu joins b12 that would create some good rivalrys. The b12 should try and get utah, smu and houston imo Utah just went to the Pac-36, they like it there and don't intend to leave. SMU and Houston are good fits, but are not there athletically. Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: OhioLawyer on October 10, 2011, 12:11:59 pm yeah, picking up non-AQ teams won't help save a conference when the others are dividing up the 6 AQ conferences into 4.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: BMan on December 06, 2011, 01:59:08 pm I think the Big East should become the Big USA ...
Boise State, San Diego State to join Big East (http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2011/12/reports-boise-state-san-diego-state-to-join-big-east/1) Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: the KR3AT3R on December 06, 2011, 02:10:08 pm UNLV should go too.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: OhioLawyer on December 06, 2011, 03:34:52 pm It won't help their attempts to remain an AQ conference. They are doomed.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: BMan on December 07, 2011, 11:31:11 am It won't help their attempts to remain an AQ conference. They are doomed. Exactly. Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: Baw on March 12, 2012, 10:31:11 am Temple to the Big East. and it's been a while but hasn't been said in here, Memphis to the Big East.
Title: Re: ***Breaking Conference Realignment News*** Post by: BMan on March 12, 2013, 10:26:11 am Big East update OK, Notre Dame was able to get out of the Big East for the ACC. So...the Catholic 7 are going to leave the Big East, but purchase the rights to the name, and become the, um, Big East. Butler, Xavier, and Creighton will most likely join. The current Big East is going to add Tulane, East Carolina, and Navy, but lose Rutgers and Louisville after 2013-14. They also have to rename themselves. Current frontrunner is the America 12 conference. Whew. |
