Title: Since Wii Unite has a .org domain Post by: Ress on July 16, 2011, 08:43:25 pm Would we be able to design the website differently than how smfforfree3 has it set up?
For example, TEC has Gamerhold: http://www.gamerhold.com/ You have a front page that looks like it has been designed themselves, and then there is a link to the forums which look like ours. Title: Re: Since Wii Unite has a .org domain Post by: Ress on July 16, 2011, 09:04:45 pm I made a forum similar to this one. I'm just looking for options. I'm pretty sure what GH did was they made the homepage (using the same domain as the forum) and then linked the forum to the homepage.
I'm also looking if smf has any sort of mobile option just so smartphone users can have an easier time online. Title: Re: Since Wii Unite has a .org domain Post by: Tiger on July 17, 2011, 12:36:48 am Yes, I think it would work. I've done things like that myself.

This site makes my Droid work extra hard and it starts overheating after a few pages and posts. :-\ Title: Re: Since Wii Unite has a .org domain Post by: Joker on July 17, 2011, 09:47:32 pm I'm also looking if smf has any sort of mobile option just so smartphone users can have an easier time online. My iPhone won't even get on this site. I get kicked off in like 10 seconds when I try to get on. :-[ I never did figure that one out. I've only tweaked around with free websites since I didn't have reason to purchase a "real" one.Title: Re: Since Wii Unite has a .org domain Post by: Ress on July 19, 2011, 01:59:31 pm So you can play around with the coding of free websites? Which ones? I'd like to play around with a site's source.

I'd like to play around with a site's source. Just get your own site Ress. ucoz has free sites, that's where I put my clan page. You can do HTML there.....put up a page and post the link. We'll critique it for you O0 They usually make it easy to use, but if you know some HTML then you can customize it even more. Actually, the great thing about these sites is the fact that they make it easy for you. Once you select a few options or a template you can then see the code they used to make it....and learn more about coding. Title: Re: Since Wii Unite has a .org domain Post by: the KR3AT3R on July 19, 2011, 03:42:08 pm I got mine for our crew website a long time ago from geocities. There were templates or the option to go from scratch. I chose scratch and used HTML to pout music/video player, slide shows, a shout box, background music, etc...After I set it up I payed for the .com domain at godaddy.

I've heard some bad stuff about freewebs so if you don't have some virus protection on your computer, you might not want to play with that one. I never had a problem with it though. |
