Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Turboweasle on November 17, 2011, 11:37:22 pm You haven't been introduced to the part of the bro code that pertains to relationships, have you?
Allow me to intervene: (Your age/2) + 7 = acceptable minimum age So for me, (19/2) = 9.5 + 7 = 16.5, or 17 since I round up. Sadly that's about to be 17 even anyway. :( Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Tiger on November 17, 2011, 11:40:58 pm Apparently not. I went to public school in Mississippi. We had plenty of both. I mean, they always wore push-up bras and stuffed them, but it never made me think they were 18 or anything. Nowadays it's seriously hard to tell. One of my sister's friends is only a few inches shorter than me, and I first thought she was a high school senior at the very least. Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: the KR3AT3R on December 26, 2011, 03:50:31 pm Level wise, almost half. Quest wise, probably 1/3. Right now im at the final quest to fight Alduin (boss dragon) so I maaay be close to "completion", but its an assumption only.
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Tiger on December 26, 2011, 08:20:01 pm Alright... I don't know much about Alchemy since I didn't spend much time on it in Oblivion and one of the small quests is to make something at an Alchemy set but I don't know any ingredients than work together. I checked at a wiki for a list but the ingredients I tried (Wheat + Lavender = Restoration Potion) failed... I'm not sure if I did something wrong or what. Help?
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Laughing Turd on December 26, 2011, 08:51:27 pm oh, well i didnt really get into the whole alchemy thing but june was telling me that you have to eat an ingredient to find out one of the four effects it has so that's what i do when i pick something up. then when you get to the table all you have to do is what you were already doing. ingredients with the same effects will be grouped together as you probably already know. just pick two or three of them and mix them together.
just make sure that you eat one of any unknown ingredient to discover its first effect and make sure you have a decent supply. oh and before i forget, after you start mixing stuff together you will start discovering all the other effects of each ingredient. Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: the KR3AT3R on December 26, 2011, 09:52:17 pm Also, if you have the clout, you could pay someone would to train you in alchemy. That way you can level up faster. Plus, when you level up, you need to have the right perks of alchemy to gain a batter advantage. At first your spells will be tweak, but the higher the level, the more effective your potions.
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Tiger on December 26, 2011, 10:07:40 pm Yeah, I've played Oblivion so I'm aware of that... I've just never cared much for potion making so I never actually did it. I usually just use Archery and sneak around. (I'm a Wood Elf)
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: June on December 27, 2011, 02:00:55 am GGs, June. You did awesome on Skyrim today. :)
Yeah, I love doing the alchemy. My levels are getting pretty high. I have opened up some of the perks, which is nice. Don't forget to follow the recipes in order to learn new effects, too. One of the perks makes it so you learn two effects of an ingredient and another makes it so you get two ingredients from each plant. My trophies are at 43%. I have yet to finish most of the main arcs. I am addicted to the side quests! Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: the KR3AT3R on December 27, 2011, 07:27:43 am Ggs last night, Alduin! It only took 2 tries to kick your romp, but it came to pass, and I am the dragon slayer of Skyrim! All hail Dovahkreater and bow to my thum. 8)
...soooooo, now what? I guess I can finish most of the quests that I haven't already done. Im very interested in Dwemer ruins so I may go underground for a while, or even try to single handedly wipe out the city of Windhelm. Those bastids don't like dark elves, so my conscience wont weigh too heavy. :P Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: DoubleGunz on December 27, 2011, 05:13:53 pm The entire city of Markarth attacks me when I go there. :P

Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: DoubleGunz on December 27, 2011, 09:25:52 pm It happened because of a quest, actually. I finished a quest and then the Markarth guards were like Y U DO THAT QUEST, WE KILL U NAO. :-\
I wanted my house to be there. Oh well. Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Tiger on December 28, 2011, 11:11:32 pm Markarth is a nice looking city but I just bought the house in Whiterun and finished upgrading it so... yeah. I was also trying to get married but the dialogue option is not available. I read a bit online and it should be there... I did the prerequisite quest and was wearing the Amulet of Mara but still... nothing. Glitch I suppose?

Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Turboweasle on March 24, 2012, 01:33:50 pm Well, there's Demon's/Dark Souls, but that's got a heavier focus on combat than story (though the story is there, and it's a damn good one; just isn't as focused on immersion as Elder Scrolls games are).
If you have a PC that can run it, I'd recommend Oblivion (the fourth game of the Elder Scrolls franchise), but only if you have a PC that can run it. You want to be able to install all the user-created mods, which you can't do on consoles. Vanilla Oblivion is pretty crappy, especially if you play it after Skyrim. It's like going back to, well, 2006, when it was made. Otherwise, I'm afraid nothing else quite rivals the ES franchise in terms of immersion and freedom of doing what you want. If you are just looking for a really good story-oriented RPG with fairly simple combat, I'd highly recommend Nier. It had the most profound impact on me that any game ever has, and that's saying something considering the thousands of dollars I've probably spent on games in my life. There's always Fallout, which is another franchise made by Bethesda, the developers of The Elder Scrolls. The more recent installments, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas have been called "Oblivion with guns," so you know it's up the same alley as far as freedom/immersion goes. But, yeah, it's got guns. I think I actually have seen people playing it. It is more the story that I like so I will consider it but I am not a big fan of combat. In that case, do not get Demon's/Dark Souls. It's pretty much focused on combat first and story second, and it is brutal when you're first starting out. Only a very specific type of person will love those games. Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: the KR3AT3R on March 24, 2012, 02:24:33 pm How similar is Fallout to skyrim?
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Turboweasle on March 24, 2012, 02:46:11 pm It's similar only in the sense that you start out as a prisoner/someone with no history (a favorite of Bethesda's) and can essentially do whatever you want. There's a main quest that can be ignored or done immediately, there are settlements with NPCs that can give you quests, there are animals and people that will try to kill you in the overworld. That's pretty much where the similarities stop.

I think your graphics card might be incompatible. I'll do some more research to find out for sure. Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Turboweasle on March 24, 2012, 03:23:35 pm Okay, so it might not be incompatible, but it turns out that Intel graphics cards are basically poop. I knew mine was (Intel 4 Express Series), but wasn't familiar with the HD family. Turns out it's still in the lower end of the pack.
Is this a laptop or a desktop? Laptops generally won't let you upgrade the graphics card, but you can with a desktop. Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: June on March 24, 2012, 04:41:35 pm Laptop. I didn't get it for gaming. I literally got it to check email, get on this stinkin' site, use my iTunes, and make some videos for my students. I figured it would be too basic.
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Turboweasle on March 24, 2012, 05:02:46 pm Well that's a shame. The good news is that everything else is perfect for PC gaming. :D

Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: June on May 11, 2012, 12:16:07 pm Haha, 2 hours is chump change compared to the mad time I would put in on a weekend day. I don't even want to know how many hours I logged into that game.
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Tiger on May 12, 2012, 05:46:09 am It is addictive. I had over 100 hours logged after one week. :-\

Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Tiger on May 15, 2012, 02:35:29 am I killed Alduin and my game froze. Had to beat him again, though I already had amazing weapons/armour so it wasn't a real challenge anyway.
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: MsTrixie13 on May 15, 2012, 09:27:41 am I'm still a noob at it.. lol
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Tiger on May 16, 2012, 12:18:16 am I honestly found the common bear more difficult than Alduin, 'specially those Cave Bears. D:
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: MsTrixie13 on May 16, 2012, 12:26:47 am Ohh yeah!! There was this quest i picked up. It said i need 10 bear pelts... i killed 1 bear and my health was already getting low. After that i went in this cave nearby. As soon as i walked in two bears came charging at me. :o i died within 10 seconds.
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Tiger on May 16, 2012, 12:44:50 am That's the upset lady in Ivarstead, right? Which weapons were you using? Don't forget to use shouts, I often forget when doing combat becasue I rely so heavily on my Ebony Bow.

I just think Alduin is easier.
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Turboweasle on May 16, 2012, 11:52:11 pm Definitely. But that's how TES games have been like after Morrowind, unfortunately.
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Tiger on May 16, 2012, 11:53:43 pm LoZ games are one of the few series that the boss is actually the most difficult (enemy-wise).

I got my Light Armour to 100 and Block in the 60's within twenty minutes.Lol! When I whacked her I was like "this is for the kids!" *slice* "THE KIDS!!!" *slash* I did exactly the same thing, haha. I actually adopted one of the kids as well (Hearthfire DLC).Did anyone see the new 1.9 patch? Aside from fixing nearly 100 bugs/glitches, they added a new feature which can make a skill Legendary, which resets it back to 15 skill (only to be done if you have it at 100). You can then regain all the perks and skill back again, essentially eliminating the level cap. I think my favourite is Daedric, but I don't wear heavy armour since I'm a Wood Elf/not my play-style for my main character.
Title: Re: Official Skyrim GGs Thread Post by: Tiger on April 25, 2013, 04:58:58 pm I sold mine to get God of War. :-\ Was it worth it?
