Title: Wii speak and games having to be programmed for it is a joke
Post by: AoW Aether on December 04, 2008, 01:44:39 pm
I know this prolly isnt where i should post this but I think wii speak shouldnt only be used on games programmed with it, it should be on its own connection so like i cuold be playing a random game and not even online but still be able to talk to ppl.  We should be able to just hook it up and talk even if the wii is just on the channel menu

???
Most of that post made no sense. If you aren't online, then you can't use online voice chat. Then even after the fact, you would have to add a friend to talk to them.

There is a wiispeak channel coming out this month. I'm guessing the idea you were going for is taken from Xbox Live, correct?

Well he worded it funny, but what he meant is that you could be playing a game offline and still be talking with friends online.

Maybe you should talk to your HVS co-workers and persuade them to incorporate your idea into the game.

I know whatcha mean Aether. My idea was to setup a chat in the WiiSpeak channel, and then be able to run it in the background of ANY game. This way, developers wouldn't have to worry about programming their game to work with it, and so you can talk to your friends at any time.

So, Krazy, if you posted last month that the Wii speak channel was coming out in January then is it out?

Yeah, thats right. WiiSpeak should be like Xbox live. I guess Nintendo didnt want to copy :P

Wouldn't the voice channel take up resource and bandwidth from the game?
I can just imagine the lag if it does.

Yea if it's utilizing the same intarnetz connecshun then it will reduce performance. I can't imagine it would do it too much, though. Im assuming that Nintendo thought about that and programmed it to take as little bandwidth as possible. I would rather the Wiispeak lag/disc than the game.
