Title: Wii U vs ps3 and xbox
Post by: dadburnz2 on December 22, 2012, 08:57:12 am
How do you wiiU owners think that it stacks up against the others as far as graphics and potential fps gameplay?

I get my Wii u for Christmas.
But graphics and fps are higher than ps360.

So, did you get it? Do you like it better than ps3?

I have xbox, not ps3.
I only have nintendoland, but it is so much fun.

but you are ps358?
Im probably going to go with a ps3 rather than buy the wii U after being left in the dark ages by the wii.

I didn't like the look of the WiiU but haven't bought one so can't really say  :-\ from what I read it just seems like they kind of caught up to the ps3 and Xbox rather than getting way ahead  :-\

Title: Re: Wii U vs ps3 and xbox
Post by: Ps358 on December 27, 2012, 05:32:21 pm
Graphically, the WiiU is ahead. In terms of games for fun, WiiU wins. Xbox has fps games, not many fun adventure games like Mario or Zelda, they have Call of Duty and Halo.
Remember though, nintendo is a family gaming company. They have games for **** gamers, and they've added more to the Wiiu than the Wii had. Remember GTA Chinatown on the DS?
Don't forget about Mario Kart and the Smash bros series either. Can't wait for those.

Im really only interested in fps and I have to be able to point at who Im shooting at. I wish that I had the option to play against only elite or move players (or whatever its called) no controllers, like the good ole days.

Yeah the dual sticks is hard to get used to... :-\ I'm doing better now, but it takes a while and you'll get frustrated cause its no fun to suck  :-[

Just do what everyone else does, wait for the enemy. Atleast I dont sit in 1 spot, I tend to run point to point and wait for them to spawn in. im nothing on the xbox, atleast on the wii I go easy on everyone while using a shotgun.

@dadburns

As far as FPS games go there is one that's coming out in the future, Aliens: Colonial Marines (Multiplatform). I'm not sure of all the control types for that game though. But as far as control types are concerned that would be up to the developer if they want to add the Wii Remote & Nunchuk or any of the Wii's controllers as one of the control types. It would also depend on if the game heavily uses the Gamepad's features like ZombiU does.

Examples:
ZombiU (More survival like gameplay)- Gamepad is the main control scheme for single player. Gamepad, Wii U Pro Controller and Wii Remote & Nunchuk can be used for multiplayer. [Local]

Call of Duty Black Ops 2- Gamepad, Wii U Pro Controller, Wii Remote & Nunchuk and Classic Controller/Pro can be used.

007 Legends- Gamepad and Wii U Pro Controller can only be used.

Since there are more "M rated" games coming to the Wii U there's a chance it could get more multiplatform FPS games like Battlefield. We'll have to see if the developers put in Wii Remote support for their FPS games.

I wouldn't go for a Playstation unless you can find a really cheap used one that's still in good condition. PS3 is at the end of it's cycle and I've read convincing rumors (put forth by game developers themselves) that put the Sony and Microsoft boxes out by April of next year.

You might consider buying a PC for your gaming, especially if you only play FPS. You can decide for yourself how powerful you want to make it and tailor it to your own budget. Games will run a lot better on your PC and have more functionality than even the next gen PS360.

Also TKO, you probably wouldn't want to play Battlefield on a console, even if it's the Wii U with a little bit more power. That game is too large for a console to run correctly. Plus, if we're talking about BF3. analogs just don't cut it. If you haven't played it before, just trust me.

Battlefield is mainly something I'd like to try out. Thanks for the advice though.

PS3 is at the end of it's cycle and I've read convincing rumors (put forth by game developers themselves) that put the Sony and Microsoft boxes out by April of next year.

Are you saying the PS3 and 360 will pretty much be done by that time or that Sony and Microsoft's next consoles will be released by that time?

I think they'll be coming out next April. The rumor does have some weight to it but it's still a rumor though.

Well they'll have to show them sometime next month or so because they haven't been officially revealed yet. But honestly I don't really see them releasing their next consoles until near the holiday season next year. They have to build up some sort of hype at E3.

Title: Re: Wii U vs ps3 and xbox
Post by: dadburnz2 on December 28, 2012, 05:00:36 pm
I probably should wait it out to see if wiiU steps it up and makes fps games like everyone else does. The only real allure to the ps3 was the move option and Im not sure what games support it. It would be my luck to drop a couple hundred bucks on one a week before its obsolite.
My oldest son built a great game pc off of new egg for around 550-600 bucks but Id still be lost without my wiimote.
Its a cruel damn world. MoH has ruined my life.

Eh, I'd probably try and get used to different input methods. I think few devs these days see motion controls are much more than a gimmick. It wouldn't surprise me if there are even fewer motion control games next gen, especially shooters. The core shooter audience wanted to stick with analogs this round on console and I don't really see that changing.

There weren't too many MOVE games on PS3 and even fewer FPS Move games.

Hey, check this video out. It's a bit long but it's very informative. At the very least watch the beginning intro where he explains the purpose of the video and then towards the end when he's showcasing all the games.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh455l3348s&list=UUw7FkXsC00lH2v2yB5LQoYA&index=1

What really spoke to me is when he played BF3 at 60 frames per second. Battlefield 3, if you didn't know, is probably the most graphically intensive game on the PC platform. Now this PC is by no means the cream of the crop but it's still impressive because his build is about the same price as a PS3 yet will play BF3 at a higher resolution and even if the settings are set at low or near low, it will still look and more importantly perform better than the same game on the PS3.

I love the accent.  If I ever have the time to figure out computers more than I currently do, I may become a PC gamer.

I've been watching tutorials online. It looks a lot more simple than I thought it'd be since you just have to connect everything to the motherboard. It's all labeled anyway. I think the harderst part would be the software since you could hook everything up perfectly but the software can still find a way to mess up.

The move controller is awesome, but there really aren't many fps games to use it with. There is a new game called CS:GO (Counter Strike: Global Offensive) that supports the move controller and it is a lot like moh was in terms of pick up and play fun. But, I don't think its worth it to invest the cash to get a ps3 and the camera/move controller to play a 10 dollar game. The move is superior to the WiiMote, but there just aren't any games out there that will ever compare to moh. :(

I love my ps3 though. I use it every day even though I don't play games near as much as I used to. Is a great machine for streaming movies/shows, playing music, blu_ray, etc...

I prefer the wiimote to the move... I think the move sucks  :-\ I have that fans and just didn't find it felt the same  :-\ I still like my PS3 though...especially now that it works after four months of not working and I didn't have to pay to get it repaired  :D the kids just got an Xbox and like it but I don't really have any games for it....didn't even play it yet  :-\

I preferred the WiiMote too. I just meant the move is technically better. Its a pain in the ass to set up every time you play though. The WiiMote was much better for pick up and play.

It was pretty easy to put my sons pc together although he went a little over on his power and graphics.
When ps4 comes out, will you be able to play ps3 games online with it. I may just try to highjack my youngests ps3 for a while. I was kind of trying to get one so we could play together.
oh yeah. What kind of set up is involved for the camera? I thought that you would just leave it on top of the tv like. the wii sensor

I've never had a ps3360 so I can't really compare them.  I really love the Wii U though.  If you've sat around playing fps on the Wii (like me :P) and continued playing because you like the "point and shoot" aspect but just wished it had HD graphics then you will like the WU.  The Miiverse feature is pretty cool and they just added the TVii feature which is pretty cool too.  Surfs the net faster than my pc and it's kinda cool that you can keep surfing the net on the pad and watch tv on the tv.

Yeah, the camera is set up on the top or bottom of the TV like the Wii sensor.

You can also use it as a computer webcam. Its got a mic built in too.

For me once Blops2 supported Wiimote the WiiU was a no brainer buy.  Nintendoland provides family fun and we always get the latest fruity Just Dance.  Only other WiiU game I even want right now (if I can nab one used) is the Sega All-Star kart racing game although I am really waiting for the next MarioKart, I own 4 Wii wheels & MarioKartU is a definite pre-order.  I hope Battlefield 4 comes to WiiU with Wiimote support, probably not.  The new Steambox that looks to be coming is interesting, ie. easy access to Steam with m&kb gameplay, dual analog on 360/720 or PS3/PS4 despite many good games holds no interest to me.  Certain genres are best with dual analog I know, WiiU will have its share of rpg(s) and even some ports, WiiU has dual analog gamepad/pro controller(s).  WiiU is getting through is launch teething problems and more good games to come but I will readily admit that 360/720, PS3/PS4 and now Steambox will/have much to offer.  Gets expensive to own too many systems, have to choose, lol.  For me its about gaming with the Wiimote, so WiiU, plus there is WiiU local multiplayer fun to boot.  WiiU is not perfect, no console ever will be.

PS3/Wii u owner.

Loved my PS3 and still do.  I wasn't hyped up much for the Wii U but Nintendo knows the importance game play, so i had to get one.  Never liked any handheld games or tablets that much.  After playing Black Ops solely on the controller, I haven't touched my wiimote since:'(  Graphics are nice on the Wii U,  can't say if it's any better than the others.  For myself, graphics take the backseat these days...10 years ago, hell yeah but I want great game play first.

And my vote for the best console is ... b)

hey dadurnz2, don't bother with the ps3 if ur looking for something like moh, iv'e got all move supported fps games i think, cs:go, killzone3, MAG, socom 4, goldeneye and there not great with move. I don't understand why there not supporting move for new fps titles. They need to make another fps game without aim assist, so no gamepads and dedicated servers. i would say stick with mw3 and wait for next gen consoles or upgrade to blops2 on wii u.

I think im done buying online fps games. EA had it right with mohh2 where you had few choices and no in game assistance.

Hey Rat, how you doing? I left a message for you with SBC, dunno if you got it.

I'm not getting a WiiU for quite a while until the price comes down. I don't think it's worth the price at all. I'm waiting to see the final specifications on the PS4 and then I'll decide if I'm getting that or build myself a gaming pc.

Not even thinking about the Xbox though. HHAHAHAHAHA, yeah, Microsoft is a cancer on gaming.

Alas, I don't know when I'll encounter you and your scheming, cheating ways.  :-[

Any word on Iron?
