Title: /Vidya General Post by: Laughing Turd on June 26, 2013, 08:44:14 pm I think we need a thread where we can just post about genera daily video game issues. If you have something you want to talk about but don't necessarily think it needs it's own thread, you can post it here. This of this as the Good Morning thread of the video games section.
I just wanna say that I think this new gen of consoles is going to be interesting as hell for Activision and EA. Activision basically owned gaming at large because of Call of Duty. The guys that made Modern Warfare 1 and 2 such a success went to EA though and they're making Titanfall. It looks like the media are really pushing the hell out of this game and it looks poised to be a serious contender for the dude-bro shootbang audience, which is huge. Now that Cod is losing a lot of appeal, Activision's only other big card is Destiny. I think it's going to be really interesting because you're going to have Titanfall + Battlefield 4 (which is also growing in strides) on the EA front vs Activision with Destiny + CoD. Just wanted to mention that. Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: Laughing Turd on June 26, 2013, 08:52:33 pm Also I noticed a new video from WU in my YT mailbox. Poor Oom. :[

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5ow4uq8994 Why must this game have such an awesome soundtrack but be region locked and not localized? ****... Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: The Krazy One on June 27, 2013, 12:13:46 pm Fifa 14 is coming to the PS2 but not the Wii U.
(http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/001/067/120/images-5_display_image.jpg?1309715410) What's up with that? Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: DoubleGunz on June 27, 2013, 12:37:56 pm Nobody that has a Wii U likes sports. Fact.
Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: Laughing Turd on June 27, 2013, 05:37:05 pm Nobody that has a Wii U likes sports. Fact. Yeah but who the hell plays sports on the PS2? I don't understand why EA isn't making games on Wii U because of low sales yet still expect to make a good profit from a PS2. Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: DoubleGunz on June 27, 2013, 06:02:29 pm Cheaper to print off and distribute PS2 games I guess, idk. I was kidding btw.
Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: Laughing Turd on June 27, 2013, 08:55:45 pm I think it's a way to say "**** you" to Nintendo.
I wonder what happens behind closed doors at some of these companies because the PR they feed us is obviously male cattle dung. EA said they'd be doing lots of stuff on the Wii U and offered to provide Nintendo with online support for all games. Nintendo said **** you and now we got the latest games coming out on PS2 but not Wii U. Yet we're supposed to believe there's still strong ties between the two companies. That's as big of a turd as those Titanfall guys saying their game is going to run better on Xbone than on the PC becuz the powah of da CLOUWD! Really? Can't they just admit to setting up shop with full intentions of being Microsoft's bitch? It's kind of obvious. I think gaming is dirty business Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: June on June 27, 2013, 10:07:20 pm Wii U? What's that?
:-\ It's ok guys. The homeless shelter isn't so bad. I hope they at least give you soup. Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: Autumn1194 on June 28, 2013, 05:27:18 am oomomo, just move in with handy :D I be he'd love to cuddle with you :P
Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: The Krazy One on June 28, 2013, 02:29:23 pm Wii U? What's that? Nintendo's current console. (http://i42.tinypic.com/30llctu.jpg) I also read the topic title in Hank Hill's voice. Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: June on June 28, 2013, 04:36:54 pm Haha... I was joking.

Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: The Krazy One on June 30, 2013, 08:39:46 pm Apparently 2 weeks ago a former RARE employee tweeted about how back when Microsoft bought RARE and went to their studio, one of the execs saw a Donkey Kong poster and thought they now owned Donkey Kong. :P

Land of the free alright. Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: Turboweasle on July 03, 2013, 09:51:32 am So this is everyone's reminder that Planetside 2 will be coming to the PS4.
I have it on PC and it runs like balls due to an incredibly poorly optimized engine, but I suspect that won't be the case on PS4. And besides, it's free to play (does have microtransactions, but like TF2 the default weapons are solid enough). You can unlock everything in the game, it just takes longer. Anyway, when it runs well it's a fantastic game. It's got huge battles the likes of which you've never seen (2,000 people in one battle, though you rarely see it capped like that as the action is usually taking place on multiple fronts). The game world would probably take four hours in real time to traverse on foot. It's got snipers, infantry, heavy infantry, engineers, medics, squads, platoons, companies, outfits, three factions, tanks, quad bikes, transport aircraft, combat aircraft, and tons of customization for your character's loadout. It's basically Bad Company 2 on steroids with a sci-fi feel. With all the hype around Destiny I just didn't want us to forget about this game. Since it's free to play I could see a lot of us getting it and having an absolute blast. Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: Squire Grooktook on July 03, 2013, 12:58:31 pm If I were to buy Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (http://store.steampowered.com/app/229480/?snr=1_7_15__13) on Steam, would any of you guys play it with me?
It's a really good game. The combat is suprisingly smooth for an oldschool beat em up. The aesthetic is awesome, and the beat em up/rpg cross over is really clever (beat em ups have a huge emphasis on preparing and conserving items, which is also what dungeon crawlers are about. Not to mention the party game aspect of playing them 4 players is very Dnd). "Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up by Capcom originally released for the arcades in 1994 which ran on the CP-System II hardware. It was followed by a single sequel in 1996 titled Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara, along with a compilation of both games titled Dungeons & Dragons Collection released exclusively in Japan for the Sega Saturn in 1999. They are notable for their unique blending of the Dungeons & Dragons game system and Capcom's then-popular 2D scrolling-brawler engine, put in the limelight by Final Fight back in 1989. The duology is also respected for Capcom's showing their work in regards to using the RPG system's lore and combat rules, and for providing a certain amount of depth to the beat 'em up genre that wasn't previously explored: Characters have multiple special moves, can use items and magic, can collect money to spend in towns, can equip weapons and armor, and can even choose branching paths as well as look for hidden areas, of which there are many" Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: Laughing Turd on July 14, 2013, 06:26:02 pm By the way Squire, I saw some of those EVO finals on
ign
. Tekken Tag Tournament 3 was pretty damn good. I got a little bit annoyed at the announcers turning it into a Korea vs US thing. Do contestants represent their countries in this tournament? I could tell they weren't too happy when the Korean guy won. They didn't sound nearly as enthused.
Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: Laughing Turd on July 17, 2013, 05:27:13 pm So the Guardian wrote an article detailing how Microsoft helped the NSA spy using Skype:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jul/11/microsoft-nsa-collaboration-user-data Microsoft helped the NSA to circumvent its encryption to address concerns that the agency would be unable to intercept web chats on the new Outlook.com portal; • The agency already had pre-encryption stage access to email on Outlook.com, including Hotmail; • The company worked with the FBI this year to allow the NSA easier access via Prism to its cloud storage service SkyDrive, which now has more than 250 million users worldwide; • Microsoft also worked with the FBI's Data Intercept Unit to "understand" potential issues with a feature in Outlook.com that allows users to create email aliases; • In July last year, nine months after Microsoft bought Skype, the NSA boasted that a new capability had tripled the amount of Skype video calls being collected through Prism; Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: Laughing Turd on July 17, 2013, 05:27:36 pm also rumor is that EA might be charging $80 for games.

I remember last year at the King of Fighters 13 finals, the combatants were a korean guy and a returning mexican champ. Mexico has a history of winning at hat game constantly, so people were surprised when the korean guy won. Myself, I generally tend to root for whoever picks my favorite characters, regardless of region. For example, I was rooting heavily for a Japanese Skullgirls player named Inuchiyo this time because he was playing my two favorite characters (ms fortune and fillia) with my favorite color pallete. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzXymwFbw0Q (his fight 30 seconds into the video, names are at the top.) Of course, there are also specific big name players who I tend to root for regardless of who they pick. Yipes, Mike Z, Justin Wong, etc. Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: Turboweasle on July 17, 2013, 07:07:37 pm also rumor is that EA might be charging $80 for games. They'd kill themselves if they did. Which wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Title: Re: /Vidya General Post by: The Krazy One on July 18, 2013, 12:22:35 am ^ Plus, their games aren't even worth that much. I mean who would want to buy an $80 Madden game every year?
