Title: I probably should've given this game a second chance. Post by: Turboweasle on August 16, 2013, 08:31:13 pm I got it on PC in the Humble Origin Bundle and played a couple rounds. It plays much better than I remember it playing back when the demo was on PSN, and I actually found that I enjoyed myself quite a bit (even on Metro). I need to get the settings optimized for my laptop to prevent FPS drop, but apart from that it seems like a decent game.

Title: Re: I probably should've given this game a second chance. Post by: Laughing Turd on August 17, 2013, 09:58:36 am Yeah. It's actually quite fun, even with 12 people. I think the reason a lot of people didn't have so much fun in the beta is because it was glitchy as hell and a bunch of other things that all came together in the end.
1. BF3 introduced Battlefield to so many new players who didn't have a clue what to do. Makes for a bad time because new people didn't know how to go out looking for the action. It gives the impression that BF is a very boring game when in reality, there's always tons of things to do. 2. Maps tend to be very large compared to most games so learning them also took longer. Made for slow gameplay at the beginning, especially when on consoles you're limted to 12 people. 3. Even though they were very similar, BF3 was it's own game and people wanted to judge it based on BC2. Title: Re: I probably should've given this game a second chance. For me it was the controls, felt like The Conduit. I don't want my character to move as if he's ice skating everywhere. >:( Quote 2. I had 12 people per team last night and even that felt a little bit empty. How do you even find people? Isn't that less than BC2? Title: Re: I probably should've given this game a second chance. Post by: JabbaScrub on August 17, 2013, 05:26:53 pm I hope you realize the only reason you're enjoying it now is that you have the PC version. BF3 on PS3 is garbage. I don't know how LT can play it. :-\
Title: Re: I probably should've given this game a second chance. Post by: Turboweasle on August 17, 2013, 05:32:52 pm That's probably the case. I just played a 30 vs 30 Rush game on Metro and it was a blast. We turned the game around when it was about 500-300 and won 200-0.
Title: Re: I probably should've given this game a second chance. Post by: JabbaScrub on August 17, 2013, 06:41:06 pm Are you using a Ps3/360 controller?
Title: Re: I probably should've given this game a second chance. Post by: Turboweasle on August 17, 2013, 07:03:45 pm Nah, keyboard and mouse. Though I might switch to a PS3 controller to see how it feels.
Title: Re: I probably should've given this game a second chance. Post by: Laughing Turd on August 18, 2013, 07:35:30 pm Yeah sorry, I meant 12 people per team which is the same as BC2.
And Jabber, I probably only like it because I'm ignorant of how much better things ACTUALLY are on PC. :D The 24 player limit is only good on some maps, like Metro. I'm sure it's better with 32, but 12 is still doable on smaller maps like that and Bazaar. Otherwise, you're probably right, it is garbage on console. I just don't know any better. hey Turbs, if you could please capture some gameplay of that, I'd luv you just a little bit more (nohomo). How do you like playing with a mouse vs the dualshock? Is movement less intuitive with the kyeboard? It's always felt more complex to me. Mouse is obviously more accurate though. Title: Re: I probably should've given this game a second chance. I don't really compare it to PC, I compare it to PS3 BC2. I just know from some videos that PC version is a lot better than PS3. You played BC2, don't you think it was tons better? ???Title: Re: I probably should've given this game a second chance. I'll do that if I can optimize the game better. Usually it's fine but when explosives spam starts my FPS usually drops to about 20, which would make it unplayable if I were to record as well. |
