Title: Titanfall Post by: Tiger on March 17, 2014, 03:06:11 am Anyone bought this game yet? I wasn't intending on buying it but one of my friends desperately wanted me to, and donated $20.00 towards the cause. I have it on the PC. Pretty sweet game thus far.
Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Laughing Turd on March 17, 2014, 04:21:59 pm You know, I heard a lot of good things about this game. I didn't get into the beta unfortunately so I couldn't try it out for myself. I'd be inclined to get it but not for $50-$60, or whatever it costs. From the outside looking in, I want to say that it's a thirty dollar game at most.
What do you think? Is the price justified? Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Tiger on March 17, 2014, 05:30:02 pm Since my friend gave me $20.00 to help cover the cost, it was more like $39.99. It's depends on your taste. Personally, I'd wait for it to come down in price. I haven't touched the campaign yet though.
Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Laughing Turd on March 17, 2014, 07:15:56 pm I haven't touched the campaign yet though. Actually, this is why I thought it isn't worth full price. I heard it didn't have a campaign. Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Tiger on March 18, 2014, 01:00:17 am Well, I haven't selected the option yet, but there is an option that says Campaign. I don't know the extent of what it is though.
Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Laughing Turd on March 18, 2014, 09:32:20 pm I guess I'll just wait for it to come down in price then.
Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: GUMBY-KID on March 19, 2014, 02:46:39 pm I've also been told there is no campaign. It's most likely just a tutorial.
Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: GUMBY-KID on March 19, 2014, 02:51:00 pm Also I don't know if I want to buy any more fps online games on PC, the hackers take over. Though I didn't run into any on BF4, but I only played it online for a few matches when it came out and I got bored because I don't have anyone to play it with.
Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Tiger on March 19, 2014, 09:31:55 pm I prefer playing FPS on the console. I've very familiar with aiming on them, and people on the PC are ridiculously quick (1:1 ratio and all that). I'm not sure I want to take the time to become good at FPS on the PC.

Yeah, I'm not quick to accuse people of hacking, but sometimes there are some people who are absolutely unkillable and have a ridiculous aim... there's sometimes noway someone could be that good without having a little help. I prefer playing FPS on the console. I've very familiar with aiming on them, and people on the PC are ridiculously quick (1:1 ratio and all that). I'm not sure I want to take the time to become good at FPS on the PC. Aiming was super intuitive and I got that down pretty quickly. The thing I had more trouble with is movement. I think controllers have that down way better. I also had a little bit of trouble using all the other keys that stuff were bound to and then returning my fingers to WASD. I'd always have to look down and that in turn would get me killed. It's gone away with practice but I still prefer movement with an analog stick. I've grown accustomed to the key bindings (part of it is I'm very familiar with a keyboard and can type at 120 WPM consistantly, I've taken many tests). It's the mouse sensitivity that makes it difficult. I play with a very high sensitivity because I'd rather get used to that now then try and get used to it later. Oh, don't think that higher sensitivity means better. You should play with whatever you feel okay with, even if it's super slow. Actually, I watch this youtuber who played Counter Strike "professionally" and he says most of those guys play with super low sensitivity and large mouse pads. I'd actually agree with that setup. My sensitivity isn't really high and I also have a rather large mouse pad. Sniping and recoil management is tremendously easier with lower sensitivity because you can make those very small corrections with more generous amounts of hand movement. The higher you set your dpi that harder it's going to be to make those subtle corrections because your pointer will go haywire with every small hand movement. Also, I can't remember what you posted in the other thread but you should make sure you have absolutely no mouse acceleration. Otherwise you'll be overcompensating and overcorrecting on top of the high sensitivity setting. Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Tiger on March 22, 2014, 06:05:08 pm I have no mouse acceleration, so that's fine. Here's my problem: When out of ADS, my sensitivity is great for getting around and quickly turning around, but in Titanfall, when you go in ADS, the sensitivity is the exact same. Blacklight Retribution has separate settings for ADS sensitivity and regular sensitivity. Titanfall needs this. :/
Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: JabbaScrub on March 22, 2014, 06:14:31 pm I played the beta on my friend's PC. I liked it well enough, but it just feels like CoD with a bit of parkour and robots thrown in. I don't think it deserves all the hype, though I'm not surprised. :-\
Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Laughing Turd on March 22, 2014, 07:57:46 pm I don't think it deserves all the hype, though I'm not surprised. :-\ Why is that? Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Tiger on March 23, 2014, 07:36:07 pm I think the multiplayer is much better than CoD. There's no killstreaks, and less useless things added. It's more simplisitic in a good way, like MoH:H2. There also seems to be more of a team aspect than solo killing, which I enjoy.
Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Laughing Turd on March 24, 2014, 08:12:55 pm There's no killstreaks, and less useless things added. This is one of the bigger reasons why I think that CoD is really stupid so I'm glad that there aren't any killstreak bonuses aside from stuff like extra points. Quote It's more simplisitic in a good way, like MoH:H2. This is something that I personally think is wrong with a lot of games. Keep things basic and small. Once games try and do a little bit of everything and shove 45 different guns to choose from, it gets hard to balance everything correctly and games suffer because of it. MoH had it so right because there were really only a few classes to choose from and only two guns within those classes. So simple and easy to pick up and play. These are very good things to me. I think I'll buy this game once it comes down in price a little bit. Hopefully that happens soon. Thanks Tiger. Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Tiger on March 25, 2014, 02:57:42 am There's one semi-automatic rifle, a three-round burst rifle, and a fully automatic rifle, all balanced. (keep in mind there are other weapons too, but not many. Not an over abundance)
There's also two sniper rifles that are balanced awesomely. One fires semi-automatically and with quite low recoil, but won't get one-shot kills unless you get a headshot. As well, you don't have to lead your target at all; they're high velocity rounds. The other sniper rifle I believe is bolt-action, and every shot with it is a one-shot kill, but you have to lead your target like in Battlefield. Very cool to see. Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: GUMBY-KID on March 25, 2014, 06:47:06 pm I might get it if that's the case

The bold-action definitely sounds like something I'd like to play with. I really might have to just buy this game as soon as I get $50 to spare. That's by far the most I've seen a game. Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: Tiger on March 25, 2014, 11:46:01 pm Yeah, the download took me about three hours, lol.
Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: GUMBY-KID on March 28, 2014, 08:24:06 pm I am loving this game. It's very welcoming to new players since there is plenty of bots to kill to earn xp. I love wall running. I don't even use my Titan, I just let it auto pilot while I'm killing on foot.
Title: Re: Titanfall Post by: JabbaScrub on March 30, 2014, 06:21:37 pm Sorry, I meant why weren't you surprised that it was overhyped? It's just a game that seems very easy to hype up. A very dudebro, Mountain Dew + Doritos sponsored, covered by every gaming news outlet kind of mainstream game. I'm not saying anyone who enjoys it is "mainstream", or even that liking popular things is bad, but them's my feelings. :-XTitle: Re: Titanfall Post by: Laughing Turd on March 30, 2014, 06:31:22 pm lol, i pretty much predicted what you were going to say. i feel the same way about it actually. seems like it was already being hailed as the best fps game immediately after it's very first reveal. sometimes it feels like the review sites are trying to play marketer and sell you the game instead of critiquing it only.
but regardless, it does look like titanfall backed up the hype, so that's good. Title: Literal Titanfall Trailer Post by: The Krazy One on April 09, 2014, 03:35:32 pm http://youtu.be/oFU2SPLukvY What did you (Miss) happen to (Miss) think of this (Miss) trailer? :P |
