TL;DR: Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario Kart 7, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and Animal Crossing New Leaf's prices are dropping to $29.99 on April 22nd.

Quote from:  Nintendo PR
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Five great Nintendo 3DS games, including the top three best-selling Nintendo 3DS games of all time, are getting a new lower price. Together these five games have sold more than 9 million combined physical and digital units in the United States alone, and represent some of the most fun game experiences available today. The five games are must-haves for anyone who owns a Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS system, and their new price represents an even better value for consumers.

Starting April 22, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D will be available in the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS and in retail stores at a suggested retail price of just $29.99 each.

Really surprising. Nintendo rarely does price drops.

Yeah, I might have to eventually hit this up and get Mario Kart and Animal Crossing when I get the money.

Nintendon't lower their prices often enough.

That's mainly because their games still sell at those prices. I usually try to buy games during sales though.

I'm sure many would, they're completely out of touch with digital transactions / the power of planned sales, or even flash sales.

PSN started doing it because of the success of Steam's sales, and it's great. Nintendo also needs some sort of plan where you can get free games. Even if it were old NES-Wii games. They could make so much money, but they are just so blind to how the rest of the industry works.  :-\
