Title: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Kreater on June 12, 2014, 02:14:55 pm Starts today. Here's the schedule.
Last cup, I predicted right here on WU that Spain would win. Can I go 2 for 2? ^-^ I'm 'hoping' Spain wins again, but think Brazil or Argentina is more realistic. -_- (http://www.printyourbrackets.com/images/printable-world-cup-group-schedule.jpg) Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Oomomo953 on June 12, 2014, 02:21:49 pm omg it's finally here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm hoping for a Brazil vs Argentina final, and Brazil will prolly win. 8) I'll just be happy if the U.S. make it out of the group. Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Kreater on June 12, 2014, 02:48:27 pm No, you need to hope for Spain, buttwad. >_>
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Oomomo953 on June 12, 2014, 02:53:10 pm ew no way. That would mean Spain won the last 4 major tournaments they were in. That's no fun. :-[
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Handass on June 12, 2014, 05:08:47 pm EL TRI!
Also, ggs refs. Not giving out the most blatant homer calls ever Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Oomomo953 on June 12, 2014, 07:09:26 pm I have Neymar on my fantasy team, so I was ok with it.
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 12, 2014, 07:47:10 pm I think Portugal wins it all
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Baw on June 13, 2014, 12:43:09 am Brazil with that ref assisted win.
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Handass on June 13, 2014, 08:53:37 am I think Portugal wins it all Can I have some of what you're smoking? Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Oomomo953 on June 13, 2014, 12:03:49 pm lol gg nice refs
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Kreater on June 13, 2014, 02:50:12 pm **** man! 1-1 at the half. -_-
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Laughing Turd on June 13, 2014, 04:55:09 pm What the hell. That **** was NOT supposed to happen. Damn, the just **** fell apart. I don't blame them. I don't see how anyone could even get passed that Netherlands midfield. And then they always seemed to have 2 guys for every Spaniard.
**** you Casillas. What the **** Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Kreater on June 13, 2014, 06:17:54 pm Yeah, that fool looked very complacent and uninterested. It's out of his character. The Spain backfield was wack and Hollands front was hungry as fudge. Bosque better figure **** out quick...and start Villa for **** sakes. It's cool though, Spain lost their first game the last world cup and still won it all. 8)
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: lightspeed_champion on June 13, 2014, 07:27:23 pm Hilarious result, and a very enjoyable game. Brazil v Spain could be an interesting second round game. Both teams don't look great.
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Laughing Turd on June 13, 2014, 09:42:12 pm Hilarious result, and a very enjoyable game. Brazil v Spain could be an interesting second round game. Both teams don't look great. I felt really bad for Spain actually. Here's how I see it. Brazil going through is basically a given for me because refball. I don't think that Cameroon can beat either Brazil or Croatia so it'll really come down to the match between Mex and Croatia. I think both of those teams know that beating each other is going to be their ticket to the next round so it'll probably be a pretty good game to watch. I kind of want to say Croatia takes that game but neither team is really that impressive at the moment. I actually do think that Mexico can beat Brazil as things stand now and not taking into account refball. In the end, you do have to factor that in so I'll give that win to Brazil. As for group B, I kind of want to say that Netherlands stands the best chance of making it through and that's based on today's performance. Spain also still has a good chance but I do think that if Chile tightens up a little bit and Spain doesn't mentally recover from that loss, I think Chile can take them. That one is up in the air for me but I'm still going to say Spain still makes it out. Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 13, 2014, 09:48:37 pm man once given a chance, soccer is pretty awesome to watch
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Handass on June 13, 2014, 09:54:57 pm LT, why are you rooting for the dirty Spaniards. You should be rooting for the pure and glorious El Tri.
That said, how in the hell does a Spanish team with that much fu(http://)cking talent go down like that? Jesus Cristo. Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Laughing Turd on June 13, 2014, 10:24:27 pm Spain's been playing ball in more or less the same way for a while. They've been studied. Also I think several of their players are kind of old already. They can still recover but not if Casillas doesn't get with the **** program.
>implying el nino is worth a damn. Xavi I think is their playmaker but some think he's overrated. Quote LT, why are you rooting for the dirty Spaniards. I just want to watch some good games man. I'm not rooting for anyone really. I do want to root for Mexico but at the same time I won't because they don't stand a good chance of getting anywhere. They are very hit and miss and the way I see it, they don't have too many good players that can make things happen. >implying chicharito is worth a damn dos santos really came through today. He would have had 2 world cup goals if it wasn't for refball. he's probably my favorite player they have and I don't think he's a huge superstar. Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Laughing Turd on June 13, 2014, 10:29:00 pm man once given a chance, soccer is pretty awesome to watch i think most people don't understand this. i don't really blame them though. people like to see lots of points on the board and that just doesn't happen in soccer. it's actually pretty difficult to tear through a team of 11 guys with a ball that you can only control with your legs. that being said, it's super tense because things can change in a matter of seconds. a 0-0 game can turn into a 1-0 after 60 minutes and then you know **** is going to get hard for the losing team because goals don't come by so easily. plus tactics are different from other sports because decisions are made and carried out within a matter of half a second. it's really not just a bunch of guys kicking the ball around. it's a very fluid sport. but it's not for everyone and that's cool. Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 13, 2014, 10:34:38 pm its starting to be for me, I was asked if I wanted to work tomorrow which would be overtime, but I said i couldn't because my daughters mother is coming this weekend, that is a lie, I plan on buying a case and watching some games, I'm really digging the intensity of these games
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 13, 2014, 10:39:43 pm I know Dempsey from the USA because I have watched some Seattle Sounder games but man that warm up game the USA last played that Bradley dude is everywhere and he makes some sick ass pin point accuracy advanced long passes/kicks. I know they arent expected to come out of there tough ass group but it would be **** awesome if they pulled off some serious ****
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Kreater on June 13, 2014, 10:42:42 pm Awesome Dave. You actually have a good MLS team in Seattle. USA teams are starting to get a following and becoming skillful.
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 13, 2014, 10:49:11 pm first game I ever watched was from a luxury suite the san jose earthquake came to town and my cousin from napa valley married the guy that who is a co-owner of that team and also the oakland a's, she struck it rich! Keith Wolff is his name, humble ass guy, I felt like a ****ing rockstar
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 13, 2014, 11:29:56 pm sorry if I came off as bragging I wasn't trying to at all, I just cherish that experience I had

Both teams are better at attacking than defending, so there should be some goals. Spain should have kept Llorente over Torres. <.< and Michael Bradley is amazing <3 Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Slaught3r on June 14, 2014, 08:25:49 am I was checking the schedule on my cable provider. Looks like I have England/Italy and Japan/Ivory Coast on ESPN today. Anyone aware of other options?

Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 14, 2014, 12:10:31 pm Italy: The worst. THE WORST. The Dwyane Wade of soccer teams. If it snowed during an Italy game, Italian players would treat every snowflake like an oncoming bullet. MAMMA MIA! THE-A SNOW BULLETS ARE-A LANDING ONNA MY MEATBALLS!
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Handass on June 14, 2014, 05:18:15 pm How in the fu(http://)ck did Costa Rica just pull that **** off? Guess Suarez really was that entire damn team
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Ice on June 14, 2014, 05:30:02 pm but Dwyane Wade better than Kobe tho right
I watched Uruguay-Costa Rica and I never watch soccer games. It was really exciting especially the two goals in 3 minutes 8) The third goal was just icing on the cake and just seeing the crowd go crazy is awesome. Didn't know Costa Rica was favored to go scoreless in their group. By not knowing anything about soccer, I feel like the US will prevail in their group but I noticed they always lose to Ghana or something so :-\. Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 14, 2014, 05:48:49 pm this Italy England game is a good one
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Laughing Turd on June 14, 2014, 05:53:18 pm Holy ****, that last attempt.
That last save.... Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 14, 2014, 06:00:06 pm ya man that was a great curve ball shot and then superman comes out of nowhere and heads it away, that was awesome, being Italian I'm rooting for Italy
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 14, 2014, 06:09:33 pm WOW! that second goal by Italy was sick!

Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Slaught3r on June 14, 2014, 06:16:04 pm Should have been a penalty kick...England boned.
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: lightspeed_champion on June 14, 2014, 07:01:34 pm Promising young squad. I'm liking the way we play. Play like that and I reckon we can beat Uruguay and Costa Rica.
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Kreater on June 14, 2014, 07:24:26 pm I slept through every match today and now I'm at a bday party so can't watch anything. :-\

Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Oomomo953 on June 14, 2014, 10:42:21 pm sorry for your lose lightspeed. :-[ I thought England should have got at least a point.
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Handass on June 15, 2014, 10:06:51 am man that was a good day of watching a sport I'm getting stoked about, cant wait for tomorrow Unfortunately is a day with terrible matchups. Switzerland/Ecuador could be semi-entertaining, but the other two will be blowouts or just plain boring games. US at 6 tomorrow~ Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: lightspeed_champion on June 15, 2014, 11:44:00 am sorry for your lose lightspeed. :-[ I thought England should have got at least a point. I'm not too disappointed, my expectations were pretty low for this world cup. At least we're not playing dire football. We have some young attacking options with great potential. If we continue to develop, Euro 2016 will be exciting. We're in a really tough group unfortunately. It will be amazing if we go through, but I'm trying to stay realistic. Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: lightspeed_champion on June 15, 2014, 04:50:12 pm Dzeko is a great finisher. Hoping for an upset.
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Wiked Spikes on June 15, 2014, 07:00:23 pm Quote Sport played between two teams of eleven players trying to introduce a ball into the opponent's goal by pushing with the feet, head or any part of the body except the hands and arms; on each team is a goalkeeper who can touch the ball with his hands, but only within the area; beats the team that achieves the most goals during the 90-minute meeting. How truly. Those who know nothing about football, then this pretty much explains it. Quote a ball used in football, either oval (as in American football) or round (as in soccer), typically made of leather or plastic and filled with compressed air. "But, when you are carrying one of the footballs or the soccer ball, you can be tackled." Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Oomomo953 on June 15, 2014, 07:54:03 pm wat

Thank you based hero, John Brooks! 🙏 Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Laughing Turd on June 16, 2014, 08:30:33 pm congrats usa on the victory. that was a super great match to watch.

Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Kreater on June 22, 2014, 07:54:53 pm US still has a lot of growing to do. They don't pass fundamentally well like most of the world. That's why they don't maintain more possession and that's why they gave the ball to Portugal so much.
Give them credit for having heart and grit though. Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Red Fatality on June 22, 2014, 08:45:52 pm that was the first soccer game i have ever watched in my life lol. To me it seemed like the us outplayed them the whole game for sure should of been a win
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Handass on June 23, 2014, 08:27:10 am Klinnsman switching to a 4-5-1 was just what we needed to have any semblance of a transition. Howard saved our asses multiple times. And luckily getting out with a tie makes us golden for making it through. Our game against Germany doesn't mean as much as the Ghana-Portugal match to us. We want a Portugal win. Portugal would have to make up 5 goals to get to the next round assuming we lose. That just aint gonna happen. Howard will keep our game against the Nazis to a 0-2 loss at worst, and Ghana ain't gonna roll over for Portugal, so a 3-0 win for them is likely out the question. A Ghana win makes things tricky, and we have to hold a one goal loss to Germany at worst, and thats assuming Ghana only wins by one(which frankly is the only way they will).
Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Oomomo953 on June 23, 2014, 10:43:39 am A draw in the Ghana vs Portugal game and we're through no matter what though. 8)

The disadvantages are the overbearing sense of shame, self-hatred, crippling self-esteem, depression etc. ...and Ghana ain't gonna roll over for Portugal, so a 3-0 win for them is likely out the question. A Ghana win makes things tricky, and we have to hold a one goal loss to Germany at worst, and thats assuming Ghana only wins by one(which frankly is the only way they will). Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: Handass on July 08, 2014, 08:21:16 pm Brazil had no business beating Chile, they escaped by the skin of their teeth. Against Colombia they had to rely on the worst ref in human history. And even with Neymar and Silva they stood no chance against Germany.

Title: Re: LET'S TALK SOME FÚTBOL Post by: lightspeed_champion on July 10, 2014, 07:54:08 pm Brazil were shambolic. It's shocking how easy it was for Germany. Germany Argentina will be a close game. They defended well against the Netherlands.
Brazil had no business beating Chile, they escaped by the skin of their teeth. Against Colombia they had to rely on the worst ref in human history. And even with Neymar and Silva they stood no chance against Germany. That ref in the Colombia match nearly paralysed Neymar. They've had decisions that went for them, and decisions that went against them. Before the Brazil game, Germany hardly looked like world-beaters. They've had decisions that went for them, and decisions that went against them. Before the Brazil game, Germany hardly looked like world-beaters. I agree, the ref was bad both ways(that guy should have gotten a yellow), but that hit was an almost routine collision that just happened to hit right directly on the spine and not an inch or two to the side where it just hurts like hell. The problem is that vastly more often than not they've had calls go for them. Remember that BS PK they got against Croatia that was really the only reason they outright won that game(its 1-1 heading towards the end with Croatia still playing some D to hold on to the draw if the offense doesnt work out, rather than playing all out offense and allowing a cheap garbage time goal). Not to mention Silva deserved a red for what he got a yellow and Cesar deserving a red for that tackle in the box that by the rulebook mandates a red. Oh, and lets not forget the ref letting Cesar come off the line big time against Chile in PKs to the point where FIFA publicly told all refs to not allow that and specifically mention Brazil as their chief offender. And I'll agree on Germany. That was the first game they looked like what everyone expected them to be. They were friggin mechanical with their game.
