Title: Steam summer sale Post by: Laughing Turd on June 23, 2016, 04:32:00 pm Let's get this thing going. Post the games you're curious about and the ones you've already bought. Also Red, I don't know if you still have your laptop but this is a good time to load up on games that you want to play. Games are going to be cheap as hell.
The ones I'm looking at currently are Mass Effect 1-3. The first two are 5 bucks a piece so I think I'm just going to jump on those. The other one I'm looking at is South Park The Stick of Truth. Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Turboweasle on June 23, 2016, 06:03:33 pm Just so everyone knows, for lots of different reasons Valve have completely changed how sales work. In the past, you'd have daily deals (which lasted for 24 hour periods), flash sales (8 hours a piece), and community choice events (where you'd vote on one of three games to go on sale for a higher % off, then it'd be on sale for 8 hours afterwards). This summer, NONE OF THAT IS HAPPENING. EVERYTHING ON SALE TODAY WILL BE THE SAME PRICE* THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SALE, UNTIL JULY 4TH. There's also no sale-related minigame, but that's less of a loss IMO.
*There have been reports that in the winter sale, which functioned the same as this one will, a few games that were on sale at the start suddenly stopped being on sale. There are also reports that prices dropped for a few games during the sale. I can't personally confirm these and haven't seen compelling evidence that it actually happened. Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: June on June 25, 2016, 08:48:01 pm I've already picked up a few games. My brother's friend told me about Ultimate Horse Chicken so I grabbed that and BC2. I am also looking at Salt and Sanctuary and This War of Mine. Magicite is also really fun once you get the hang of some of the crafting.
I've actually had my eye on Golf with Your Friends as well because I love mini-golf! But, like most things, I am probably way worse in video game form. Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 25, 2016, 09:34:40 pm Good call on the golf with friends, never heard of it until you said something. Watched some videos and for $5 bucks it looks like it would be cheaper and make me laugh more then a good comedy at the movie theater
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Turboweasle on June 26, 2016, 12:12:46 pm So I went ahead and got Salt and Sanctuary earlier today, and it's a very good game. It gets marketed as a 2D Dark Souls a lot, and speaking as someone who's played Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, and Dark Souls 3, I can say that it very much deserves that comparison. Some of the game mechanics are almost completely the same as the Dark Souls game.
Combat feels good, although I feel like there's a bit of input delay on controllers (though I could just not be managing my stamina very well yet, so don't take my word on that). The upgrade system is pretty intuitive so far, and leveling up is straightforward. The only thing that feels a bit overwhelming at the start is the skills management thing, because it's a huge web of skills you can unlock and you get the materials to unlock them way before you've been exposed to a lot of the enemies/weapons you'll find later in the game. For example, had I known I'd have found a great, high-damage polearm in the third stage of the game, I would've unlocked the polearm skill. Now, however, I don't know how to get any more of the skill material to unlock it, so I'm kinda stuck. But that's quite similar to Dark Souls, so no major complaints. Probably time to start a new character now that I have a feel for the game. Might pick it up to play with the homies Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Laughing Turd on June 26, 2016, 02:06:19 pm Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes looks like a pretty fun party game.
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Laughing Turd on June 26, 2016, 03:00:48 pm Just watched the video for Magicite and it looks pretty neat. I really need to get an xbone controller to play these games.

Magicite is with keyboard and mouse. I have an extra copy if you want it. Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Laughing Turd on June 27, 2016, 11:10:09 am Thanks for the offer but I decided to skip on this game. The three games I bought should be good enough to last me a while
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: June on June 27, 2016, 11:33:14 am Good to hear. I was planning to give it to my brother but thought I'd offer in case you'd want to join the other boys and me.
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Handass on June 27, 2016, 04:25:50 pm so just dropped 50 on some new games. Rebought Castle Crashers, Portal 1/2, and BC2, along with some of my weeb games I've just been waiting for a good enough sale to make my wallet not cry. Thought about springing for ARK: Survival Evovled, but still not fully sure on it.
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 27, 2016, 05:27:40 pm Castle crashers I know because of the ps3, good choice. Handy you make me wanna be a better man
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: June on June 27, 2016, 05:44:09 pm Handy, I'm super excited that you got a bunch of games! Will you buy Ultimate Chicken Horse as well?
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes looks like a pretty fun party game. I think you would have to play it with a pretty chill group because that game looks super stressful. Handy you make me wanna be a better man wat Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: June on June 28, 2016, 12:41:39 am Stop asking questions and just buy them.
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: June on June 28, 2016, 12:37:31 pm Since there are no flash sales or incredible new deals popping up, I feel that I listlessly meander through the queue each day just to get my cards.
tl;dr - Steam Sale is boring Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: JabbaScrub on June 28, 2016, 03:44:01 pm Soo......
(http://i63.tinypic.com/fn9uh2.png) And that's just the big one. Anyway I agree the sales are boring now, but I also had issues with the old system. I think a good compromise would be refreshing sales of no less than 24hrs, and no price drops on games that are already on sale. It really sucked buying a game at 25% off during a flash sale just to find it 75% off during the next daily. Changing sales keeps the queue fresh each day. Without them they're just boring as June said. Also I'd like to note that "Not interested" doesn't do a damn thing. I've marked it on the same games over and over yet they keep popping into my qwayways. Talos Principle is humping amazing. I've only played for about 5 hrs but it's already given more value than the entirety of Portal 2. Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Permanent Poopface on June 28, 2016, 05:01:01 pm Don't you, forget about me
Don't, don't, don't, don't Don't you, forget about me Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Laughing Turd on June 29, 2016, 10:08:56 am Is that the most recent devil may cry? I don't know why that one got so much hate.
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Handass on June 29, 2016, 10:40:36 am Jabba, get BC2 so we can have more tank shenanigans on PC. Even a toaster can run that game as my crappy laptop does. Also get Dino D-Day because its stupid and fun and will make you hate the game within 60 seconds.
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: JabbaScrub on June 29, 2016, 03:16:11 pm Yeah it's the reboot. I've heard it's great for newcomers so considering I've never played any hackysacks other than Dark Souls I guess that's me. I only had 30 mins to play today but it was pretty fun. I've never played a game with the ironically edgy style either so I'm loving that part too.
I can run bc2 at max settings just fine, I just can't kill anything. :( Dinasahs looks mad dumb but I bought that for a dollar. Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Laughing Turd on June 29, 2016, 03:25:04 pm Why couldn't you kill anything in bc2? Lag?
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: JabbaScrub on June 29, 2016, 03:32:05 pm Partly bad aim since it was the first fps I tried after moving to pc, but also because everything progressed way too fast. My preferred playstyle relies on the slower pacing from the old days, with each point barely being taken. I like to sneak into a flank with two squadmates and hold a position that allows the team to progress. Can't do that when the enemy is getting steamrolled faster than you can flank, or you're getting spawn raped.
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: JabbaScrub on June 29, 2016, 03:32:48 pm Also I don't have the m1 garand so there's basically no point playing
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Turboweasle on June 29, 2016, 06:12:52 pm It's a default weapon if you have other BC2 games I think. I know I had it on the PC despite never playing it before last week. My only other Battlefield game was 1942.
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: June on June 29, 2016, 07:46:26 pm You earn it really quickly... I think I had it the first or second day I played.

Yeah the bad part about playing an old game like bc2 is that there isn't a big pool of players to choose from. The ones that are left are either super pro or super bad. Most of the games you're either getting raped or you're lucky enough to get the stacked team that's doing the raping. This game also tends to be a little bit faster paced on PC as well. The Garand is neat but the actual best thing to do is shotgun + slugs. You can literally snipe a dude from across the map with those. It's funny when they cry hax. Yeah, but I can't remember any of my ps3 account to link them :/ And it's not like I'm gonna buy one of the new ones. You earn it really quickly... I think I had it the first or second day I played. hmm I though it was veteran players only. I'll still play with y'all if I get a chance, m14 and UMP with do me fine. Yep, that was my experience trying halo 3 on 360 way after its prime too. Maybe a squad of us could make a difference though. That's mainly how I remember bc2 anyway, my squad vs another squad with the rest of each team just being fodder. The Garand is neat but the actual best thing to do is shotgun + slugs. You can literally snipe a dude from across the map with those. It's funny when they cry hax. Lel I played around with the slugs some on ps3, that was literally hax. Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: JabbaScrub on June 30, 2016, 03:23:24 am Guys I don't think you understand how much you need Talos in your life
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Handass on June 30, 2016, 02:02:35 pm I don't think you understand how **** my computer is and how poor I am. (Note: I'm not really poor, I'd just rather blow my money on my weeb card game right now. I'm 4 cards away from fully blinging out my fairy deck. Haters gonna hate.)
Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: Turboweasle on June 30, 2016, 03:22:21 pm If you don't get Ultimate Chicken Horse I'm going to f*** you up. Not in a sexy way. I mean you'll still probably enjoy it but it won't be my intention.

You'll be the only week in town still going to your card game cuckjams. If you don't get Ultimate Chicken Horse I'm going to f*** you up. Not in a sexy way. So, anyone regret any purchases so far? I'm absolutely satisfied with at least mass effect 1 and 2. The first one didn't age well but the second one is amazing. I'm absolutely addicted with the gameplay of 2 and the series universe which made the first game worth it to me. It's got everything I love in sci-fi and I'll be buying the third game from origin. Can't wait for the new one coming out this fall. I highly recommend mass effect 2. You don't need to play the first but if you can muscle through the clunky gameplay is recommend that one as well just to be filled in on the entire story. Plus all the decisions you make carry on and affect the storyline on the subsequent games. Title: Re: Steam summer sale Post by: June on July 06, 2016, 03:33:40 pm I haven't played through most of my games yet. But I am really glad I was able to get BC2 for PC. I'll eventually play through some of the others. Really ticked that Handy didn't get Ultimate Chicken Horse with me, though.
