Title: Being helpful and hopefully saving you money
Post by: AoW Aether on October 06, 2008, 03:48:12 pm
As I am doing back in AoW, I am going to buy the conduit the day it comes out and telling everybody else if it is worth spending 50 dollars on. If you would like I could easily do the same here so you dont have to waste your precious money on a possibly fail game. Yet Ive heard great things about his game so keep your wallets ready.

BTW I drew the flying enemies in the game, I was hired by High Voltage and their publishers for my skills with texture and humanoid form. I work with many others to perfect the game so I guess my opinion might be a bit biased on whether the game is worth buying or not but is should be worth it.

Happy waiting

That's pretty cool, being hired to do some enemies.  And fail or not (hopefylly not), I'm getting the game.

Well, that's nice of ya, but what if what you find enjoyable in a game is differen't from what I enjoy in a game? :O

Ill show you the finished product, I and about 4 other people worked to develop the enemies that High Voltage calls "Flyers" I think it sux as a name but hey I cant rly do anything about it seeing as I dont own the rights to the game.

This is the finished product:

actually they are called skimmers but on like ign they go by flyers. anyway i guess there is confusion about what they are really called, our origional idea was to call them Strafers but that also sounded stupid so whatever

It's entirely possible that HVS contracted you to design an enemy/creature for them, but I don't see why HVS wouldn't have their own art team do it. :O (Assuming HVS has an art team.)

aight I am going to try to end all confusion with this summary:

I Aether Work for HVS. I am under a confidentiality contract so that means the little info about the game that i know (just the enemies) cannot be released by me only the producer, I will prove that I work for HVS, but just so you know I take the fact that you guys need proof as an insult because you guys(well at least at AoW) know me and I would expected that you guys would trust me a fellow clan memb. I can understand other ppl being suspicious but not you.

BUT FINE, IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT THEN YOU WILL RECIEVE PROOF >:(

technically i could get sued for more than you would pay me. Sides what i know isnt really worth caring for. All it is is what the enemies look like and what they can do

Ah OK! Enough blabber....ON WITH THE PROOF!  :D

Even if you are our fellow clan member....we wouldn't believe if any one of us said we were Hugh Hefner's long-lost bastard son or Chairman Mao Zedong's great-great-nephew...  :-\ unless there was solid proof...

Ah...but question...

Are you officially part of the HVS staff working on the Conduit? Or were u just a guy who submitted some sketch doodles over to HVS and they liked it and paid you some money for royalties for the art? Will we see your name in the credits when we beat the Conduit's singleplayer mode?

If you really do work for HVS, I will not ask you for any inside info on the game project. I would however request that you relay the following suggestions I have for the game to the lead game designer (you know, the LGD must have at least some communication with his artists) on behalf of everyone looking forward to this game:

- What I love about Red Steel is improvised cover. You can use motion sensing to push over tables to serve as cover. I suggest the same be done in Conduit. And also maybe more interactive objects in the environment that can serve some tactical use in combat. At least implement that online as well.
- A lean function like in MoHH2
- Ironsight perspective please
- Secondary Fire if possible
- I'm sure the gun sounds in the game are placeholders....but if they're not....please add more oomph to them.
- ABSOLUTELY NO TOLERATION OF FRIEND CODES...not even a little bit.
- Lobby Room for online
- Wall edge destruction - For example, when you're under fire and you're in the cover of a wall....the wall's edge should chip away as bullets hit the edge of the wall. This little thing adds realism and was implemented in Counter-Strike:Source, a 2004 game.
- Online Co-Op please ....no BS Wii-Sports playing retarded frat boy's "Squadmate Mode" or other BS designed to attract casual gamers. This is a game dedicated solely for **** Wii gamers. Please do not compromise this ambitious development for the sake of the casual crowd.
- IMPORTANT: Try to follow the footsteps of Mario Kart Wii Online in terms of latency and make the online as lagless as possible. FPS's 5 years ago have already implemented ways to avoid having the gamer resort to lag-shooting.
- You probably have this in mind but please increase the graphics of the backgrounds...not just the character models.
- If you can, please implement a clan community system in the online like what Combat Arms (PC) did. Make this game "clan friendly".
- Lots of maps for online
- Keep the twist-motion zoom thing for sniping from Mohh2
- If it doesn't affect the Frames-Per-Second too much, please implement rag-doll physics and non-disappearing corpses. Rag-doll was done in GTA-SA : /

I'm serious about this. Guys...let's provide some serious suggestions for the Conduit.

Ok diao let me lay it down for ya:

I was an average joe, only like a month ago and wanted to find out more about the conduit and so I visited the HVS homepage. They had a job opening for ppl with certain skillz. They needed a few graphic designers and 15 concept artists. I applied and sent in some of my work. Anyway a few days later they responded and told me I was in. I get paid based on the rating of my work and I get a free copy of the conduit if I choose no pay (seeing as I am barely getting paid at all) so I accepted.

Seeing as me and the majority of the HVS concept artists work from home/college, our names arent going to be in the credits because we only send in work by a deadline and that is really it.

As far as me giving those suggestions to Eric Nofsinger (my overall boss), I will see what I can do but just keep in mind that Im not that high up in this software company to be able to sway Eric's mind with ease. Let alone the programmers who tend to hate everyone and think they do everything. They technically build the game but without everything else they couldnt do it.

Ah make sure when you submit these suggestions to Eric....make sure u say it's a collection of suggestions from fans eagerly anticipating the Conduit...

Title: Re: Being helpful and hopefully saving you money

nope
they copyright it, all I have to do is send it in, seeing as they barley pay me much of anything, I dont personally care if it gets stolen.

Hello.  Please PM me and let me know who you are.  The art team that created the Skimmers do not know anything about this site nor your alias.  We also did not contract any outside artists.  Please do not pose as an HVS employee if you are not.   Again, please PM me so we can get this straightened out.
