Title: Harsh criticisms. What do you think?
Post by: JL on May 01, 2009, 02:43:09 am
These guys previewed the game and called it "not very fun." What is your take?

Obvoiusly, the reviewer is a "dual analogue stick" fan.

I was trying to see how objective the review was going to be.
Lo and behold on the 3rd sentence, he mentions the XBOX and the PS3.

If the game was available for the other consoles, he may have had a different opening rather than saying that it was "cliched (by what?), uninspired (why because it's not a conventional weapon game?) and quite forgettable (because after he tries it, he will go back to his main console and never have a chance to play it again?)"

"Lobbing the grenade is as simple as a flicking the nunchuck"
(I thought this is something that everyone wished for with CODWAW)

Why does this reviewer compare it to "Brothers at Arms" and "Red Steel"? Did he not get to play MOHH2 and CODWAW on the Wii?

Again, I think he's not a Wii fan and my advise is for people to try it, and judge it themselves.

I for one have never really let Ebert and Roeper tell me what movies to watch. In fact, a majority of what they say contradicts how I feel about a movie after I watch it myself. So much more for the games I play. Everyone has their own taste. Just because the reviewer didn't enjoy it doesn't make us idiots for liking it if it is something to be liked.

Thanks for reading my rant.
I have always taken reviewers with a lot of skepticism.
If their reviews are wrong, they come back and say that they were unaware that so many people have such poor taste.
Oh don't get me started on food critics! Imagine them telling you that you put too much cheese in your spaghetti!
These reviewers are supposed to "Review". Give us the details. They are not suppose to judge. We are completely capable of doing that ourselves.

Honestly, I feel many reviewers like to hear themselves talk.  He said very little about online play which is what we care about most.

i could care less what some random ass hat critic has to say about the game. Im going to wait and see what the general WU community has to say about it before deciding if im getting it or not.

Gawd I hope you do.  I have been telling thrilling tales of your prowess to some young vT pwners and they are not sure if you are real or just an urban legend.  The most fun was a pvt match in waw we had set up to just work on tbag styles and I was Skyping with this youngun telling her what I was doing in nothing compared to this one dude I used to play with ...

lawl i admit i loved my tbags. And im hoping and hoping that conduit will deliver what i need... so im trying not to hype it up for myself the way i did with WaWii.

After the first week of "oooooo new game" wears off ill see how everyone is feelign it. But watching vids i myself cant wait for it i just need feedback to make sure i wont regret getting it.

Well put, Bantha. I already pre-ordered the game, but I just wanted to see what people had to say about it. I, too, felt that the preview was a little biased towards Xbox and Playstation FPSs.

good catch!!!!!  I can't wait for the tbags, but if they are to be effective we need a respawn delay don't we?

This is true. CODWAW has very good actions available for T-bagging.
At the trial OG event with 5 second respawn time, I even completely layed down on Undrclsshero after a couple of T-bags LMAO! :D
OhioLawyer, Undrclsshero and I were laughing our heads off because it looked like a Necrophylic Phalic Rear Attack.! :o
However, the instant respawn in public mutiplayer games won't allow your victim to see the act.

does anyone know if there's a kill cam for the public matches in TC?
or if you can set the respawn time in private matches?

The graphics really aren't that great, but hey I would rather have good gameplay and crappy graphics then the other way around. Sure it would be nice if we had both but you can't have everything.

The graphics are probably the best we've seen for the wii IMO.

That was some random reviewer from a low grade site. His opinion still matters, but I think I'll take IGN's a little more seriously.
