31  General Discussion / Entertainment / The All-Seeing Eye / Re: The Steam summer sale is imminent: Here's a guide to getting the most out of it. on: June 22, 2014, 08:53:00 pm
I'm definitely getting Civ V if it's voted.

Also, notify Oom that the M&B collection is once again only $1 more than M&B + DLC.

I think I may have gotten two votes this round, by having two storefront pages open and voting through each. I'll check again next round.

Darksiders II is pretty great. The music is very atmospheric in Kyd's strange fashion, like AC2's ost. I didn't get very far before I "sold" my 360 but I loved the bit I played.

Special PSA for Oom: Even if you don't care about any of the games in the two community choice options, vote for the Fantasy - Hack and Slash option for Oom.  He wanted to get Mount and Blade Warband when it was on sale yesterday (or whenever) but missed out, and he can get it for the same price today if that option wins.
Sorry Oom, I had already voted. I tried several times to change but 'twas too late.  Undecided

Just got Takedown: Red Saber. Totally worth it, recommend to anyone. Best game ever 10/10

Ah, good. I was reluctant to miss out on Witcher but I guess I can take a pass. And I'll wait a while to make a decision on Reign of Giants.

Also, I got the Napoleonic Wars expansion for M&B, too, so we should stand side by side in a line sometime.
Sounds great  Cheesy  But it will be a while. I still don't have wi-fi.

It'll be available in the west (Europe and North America) in the future.

That image has been manipulated to hell. It could be a proof-of-concept, but I really hope not.

- Mirror's Edge 75% off ($4.99) (I recommend this)
- Hotline Miami 85% off ($1.49)

Damn. That's what I get for neglecting this site.  Embarrassed

Thanks for putting this up, Turbo. I just bought the M&B bundle ($1 more than M&B + Napoleonic), Pixel Piracy, and the Spore bundle.

I'm happy with the first two, but something about the Spore bundle just keeps nagging at me. I'm sure I'll come to regret the $12 bundle when the games I really want go on sale and I'm broke.

If FTL goes on daily/flash and I don't post saying I've purchased, pleasepleaseplease send me an fb pm notifying me. Hotline Miami is bad enough, I can't miss FTL.

Do you recommend Reign of Giants? It's only $1 off but that's another 3.85 to go toward another card if I buy now.

And how about Witcher 2? I've been wanting that one for a while, but I don't know how long it'll be before I have a compatible machine.

How well do game trades work out? If I wait a while after the sale is over, can I trade expensive items for an item of equal value, or will most people have already made the purchase?

Flash deals:

- Planet Explorers 40% off ($14.99)
- Halo: Spartan Assault 50% off ($2.49)
- Risk of Rain 75% off ($2.49)
- Papers, Please 70% off ($2.99)

I'd like to experience Papers, Please but I'm not sure I could get $3's entertainment out of it.

The Jet Bike has a super sharp in-turn. The sports bike or w.e it's called also has an inside turn. The Yoshi bike might, too.
I'll have to try the Jet Bike. I used the sport bike and the radius of its inside turn is way too wide to be useful. It just seems like a kart with a slight in-drift and a mini-boost limitation. I really hope the Jet Bike or another fulfills my expectations, because in a lot of areas, MK8 has greatly surpassed its predecessors.

Just got back from my friend's place where we've been playing it since 6. If I had to make a decision now, I'd say I don't care for it. Aesthetically, it's beautiful. Level design is astounding.

But it seems that the skill cap has been lowered back to pre-mkwii days (I never played MK7). The mach bike in mkwii had a pretty high skill cap. From the few hours I played, it seemed that drifting was pretty much the same across all vehicles. I miss being able to perform quick, sharp drifts at just the right moment and gain a speed boost. In MK8, I can just press the jump button anywhere within a very large distance of the turn and just ride the curve out. It's boring.   Undecided   The music wasn't very notable, but that's never been a focus in the genre.

But I don't know, maybe the late-game customizations allow for more technical skill. Or maybe I wasn't using the right bike. One of our friends who was at the "new game, come to my house" get-together was almost constantly outperforming me, so there's still skill involved.

Never heard of Dynasty Warriors, but the gameplay in this looks really cool. I've never seen anything like it.

I guarantee that masquerade lady won't have that much boobage in the release.

**** the Mountain.
I'm guessing a certain event took place in the recent episode?  :3

The crazy thing is that guys on reddit/gamefaqs have tested the i-frames and concluded that maximum AGL (ADP+ATT) only gives around 3 more i-frames, so everyone has decided it's useless. I mean, I was really excited to try a dex build with one poison weapon and a bleed one, but the bonuses ADP grants are negligible. I've gotta say I'm disappointed with dual wielding. It's fun and all, but it's much better suited for power stancing Greatswords (the most fun you can possibly have in the game) than dual katanas or something.
44  Gaming Boards / Video Game General Discussion / Re: Dark Souls 2 Discussion on: April 18, 2014, 09:58:44 am
I'd suggest playing Dark Souls first. The dodging mechanics are very difficult to get the hang of this time, but maybe that's just because I was used to DS1's rolling. If you do get DS2, get that 20 ADP as soon as possible.  Afro

I'm halfway through book four. The books are amazing, and I just signed up for a free Netflix trial so I finally get to watch the show   Cheesy

"In the game of thrones, even the humblest pieces can have wills of their own. Sometimes they refuse to make the moves you've planned for them. Mark that well, Alayne. It's a lesson that Cersei Lannister still has yet to learn"   -Littlefinger

Yep, this guy says the name in every book..

Eddard is noble, and Tyrion is hilarious. But the all-time greatest character in the entire series is this guy:

I thought he was the bread and butter of the show

I'm pretty sure everybody dies on GoT. It sure seems that way.

Yeah, I watched the first 3 seasons in the last month or so....it's pretty good, but damn
they kill off a lot of what I would have considered "main characters"
