^ For some, yes... Unfortunately too many confuse religion and patriotism. Jesus Christ is best remembered for having died for our sins... A soldier whom puts his life on the line for a fellow comrade, dose so; that he might assure a cause; personal otherwise. That decision is his/ or hers, and could be considered Patriotic. Our country was formed by Judeau Christian tenants, which historically outline putting the "common good" ahead of our own interests. But ultimately the decision to self sacrifice comes from the love within, for those whom are part of our lives.
(See: "Flags of our Fathers")
It wasn't, actually, but that's beside the point. What about our Muslim soldiers? Our atheist soldiers? Do their sacrifices somehow not count? That's what I have a problem with. O.K. Wasn't differentiating the religions, if you look again, I was simply pointing out the difference between religion and the sacrifices that are made by those who put the lives of others,. ahead of their own. That is not rooted in any religion, I believe it is a basic part of what we are as people, Muslim. Atheist or not. I think we're on the same page.

^ Actually many Atheists are more God conscious than practitioners of traditional churches. I was raised in the Catholic Church, however; and do not impose my faith on anybody else. The test of my faith is a personal life long endeavor, and should not be advanced or quashed by anyone, the Church, or the Atheist community... As to the tipping of their Johnny Walker Red in that vid, WTF is that all about? Looked like some
long ago banned TV commercial for drinking JWR

^ Ahh, cool. Ultimately though, these "Internet communities", would coalesce around a common thread; they're by forming another version of a 2 or 3 party system. Thats just plain evolution. Your vision of this occurring though would probably generate new excitement in the electoral process. A good thing. Now if, as Reagan put it; the community could hold on to their tenants , limiting the influence of "Special Interests",then maybe the communities would prevail. I've grown to believe, that the Electorate,(you and me), tend to make the right decisions about our futures; when armed with all pertinent information... It's a passion w/ me. I might vote for ya.
Oh BTW, I'm not an OWer

^ Bourbon? In the Catholic church, Red wine is introduced as a Sunday sacrament. They're tipping glasses to C. Hitchens. What a bunch of twisted bow ties... Alcohol can be a powerful influence on the ( conscientiousness). Jokey?

Frankly I hope the party system dies off quickly.. Maybe then we can actually vote for people based on what they are vs their party..
That won't help. We'll still be voting for the 'most squeaky clean', and that limits the pool dramatically. Successful people tend to stir up dust- it's what they do. Ruffle enough feathers and people will jump over themselves to feed you to the wolves press (Cain). It's a shame that we choose the LEADER of our Country this way. I could give two sh its weather Cain slapped some a ss back in the day. Can he save this sinking ship? I believe he could. ...It's sad, but Ron Paul won't win because he's too dorky. Nerds can't win the presidency.
*cough* Jimmy Carter *cough* ^ Agreed JD The "Party System" is about the only way any candidate can get an organized message out to the electorate. Perhaps one of the largest failures of a system that has worked throughout our history as a nation, is the disconnected nature of the ELECTORATE its self... I'll make it short and sweet... We're the one's electing these boobs all too often with less than 51% of the national vote. We need to be more engaged, that we may be more qualified to point out the many problems that currently plague our politics. ( Fiscally conservative/Socially Moderate) PEACE
