I dont know how many vets or active duty members r on here but I think some might b of the age and wondering about going in. 1st if you do decide 2 join-get every "guarantee" in writing, from which MOS(military occupational specialty) to where you would like 2 b stationed. Now here's some pros about serving-VA loan 2 buy your home, veterans preference-if you apply for a job and all applicants have same amount of skills for the job, by law the veteran has 1st dibs. Next, the GI bill is good and does help to pay college. The training, discipline and and skills learned are great. Also the life insurance is nice. Now the negs, you dont have rights and are treated kinda badly at times, the food kinda sux especially when your in the field, you may have to do things that you feel are bad or even wrong. I am an honorably discharged U.S Army military police officer who had a top secret security clearance with many awards and commendations, my father was airborne and attended West Point,I come from a long line of military personnel in my family so if any of you need advice on this subject I would be honored to help. Thx 4 taking the time to read this and have a blessed day.
