Well unlike in CoD that once you get a killstreak it gives you free kills, the conduit did it by some sort of an XP system. I forget EXACTLY how it works but I THINK it double per kill you got, I really forget now.

Like example;

1 Kill - 2 xp
2 Kills - 4xp
3 Kills - 8xp

This way someone is still rewarded for getting a killstreak, but it doesn't put the opponents at a disadvantage which I freaking HATE about CoD.

Hey guys Cheesy Haven't talked to you in a while, anyways... here it is:

I'd like to start off by commenting on how astonishing it is that you guys actually value the opinions of the gamers. I will be giving you guys feedback I've collected from a collage of "competitive" Wii gamer’s opinions. We currently participate in the Modern Warfare: Reflex ladders and some of us participated in The Conduit ladders, which didn't have a lasting appeal. Please do not take these opinions as just my own. Understand that this is coming from a whole group of gamers. Please note that the following comments are for the multiplayer experience only.

First, I’d like to state what we felt went wrong in The Conduit, and then I'll close with what some people would like to see in Conduit 2.

The Conduit Complaints
Matchmaking System
The number one complaint I've received is your guys matchmaking system. Yeah, it makes sense to me perfectly. You guys have got a way to eliminate "Lag shooting" which was experienced in Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 and both online Call of Duty titles on the Wii. However, the matchmaking system is still the most hated system. Take it from the gamer's perspective. At first it may seem fine because they're all hyped to play the game, but after countless experiences of waiting for over 2 minutes to get in a match, whether it is a private or a public match, the frustration begins to set in. When the gamer gets frustrated, he or she begins to notice all of the flaws in the game. Even the little things seem like a huge deal to them. I sent an email about this to you guys before the game even came out. I understand that you guys aren't in any position to have dedicated servers like EA. Everyone enjoyed them so much because they were able to set the rules they wanted to play and were able to join servers with friends, and people they know around the community, without having to add any friend codes, invite anyone, etc. If for some reason dedicated servers such as these have become an option for you guys now, we’d ask for you to at least take it into consideration. If that’s not the path you are going to take, then seriously change your matchmaking system. Another alternative is the Modern Warfare: Reflex system, which allowed users to party up (which was another big complaint about The Conduit), and it allowed users to also join the users "current game" (like The Conduit).

Wii Speak
People want Wii Speak to work for public games too and if I'm correct, the new Monster Hunter game allows you to do this. Therefore, I’d look into it. Personally I don't care, because I wouldn't want to hear whiny kids anyways. My personal complaint about Wii Speak would be that it would lag and echo a lot, I'm not sure if this was due to the Wii Speak itself or if it was something on your behalf.

Controls
People complain about "bunny hopping", but personally this is not a big issue to me. I bunny hopped because I couldn't sprint. If you guys are running out of control options, in Medal of Honor Heroes 2 one of the ways you would sprint was by double tapping forward on the nunchuk (this was for the Zapper settings). From a competitive point of view, there was a massive issue with the lock-on feature. It was nice to see the person's health and all, but it really killed the competitive aspect of the game by auto-centering the opponent. Plausible solution for this would just to have the "X" hit marker like the Battlefield and Call of Duty series. You should also go even more in-depth with your controls (which may have seemed impossible to everyone, great job on the controls =) ) by allowing the user to choose whether he needs to hold down a button to crouch or zoom in. It really got me angry in The Conduit how I had to hold down the button to crouch, and I only had to touch the button to zoom in, and then touch it again to zoom out. There should be an option as to whether you want to hold down the button or not, because in every other game I'm used to touching the button for crouch, and holding it for the zoom.

Private Match Settings
There wasn't a lot of settings the host could choose upon for private matches. Perhaps have options such as "radars always on" (so if people want to 1v1 and the opponent can't just crouch and hide in a corner after he gets one kill), and options to disable certain weapons, perks, explosives, etc.

Hit Detection
If the opponent lagged, you would shoot them and they would die seconds later. This would not be a problem with dedicated servers or a host-based server like Call of Duty.

Frame Rate Issues
Some people experienced major frame rate issues at 8 people, I personally reached them at 10.

Conduit 2 Anticipations
- More team based game modes, you guys nailed a lot of the Free for All Modes

- Better match making, as explained before

- Don't change the way you guys had your killstreaks! You nailed it, the best Killstreak system I've seen in any game.

- Bolt action type and semi-automatic snipers you see in most shooters. Everyone loves to snipe, and the strike rifle and scar just don't give you that same feeling of sniping.

- A limit to the amount of starting grenades at least. Excessive use of grenades made some games frustrating to the point of ridiculousness.

- The Conduit had a huge amount of potential. The campaign was great but a lot of us feel that the online didn't deliver as it should. Try and aim for the 90%'s and give us the shooter us Wii gamers have always anticipated. Best of luck to you!

RESPONSE
------------------------------------------

Thank you for purchasing the Conduit and your compliments regarding the game. We are extremely happy over the reception the Conduit has received in the Wii community. Thank you so much for your kind words on the Conduit. We love to hear what our fans have to say about the software.

Wow, that’s a boat load of information. I can tell you for sure that we have addressed the majority of your control issues (I can’t yet get into detail).

A suggestion to kill the Wii Speak echo that you are experiencing is to use Headphones plugged into your TV with the Wii Speak Mic set in front of you. This will make it so the mic doesn’t pick up the sound from the TV which is what causes the echo. I know it doesn’t solve the problem for your buddies that play without headphones, but at least you will come through clear and without echo.

As far as the matchmaking/server issues you addressed, we aren’t quite ready to give out more information on how that system will work, but keep your eyes on the gaming sights for more information on those features.

Thank you again for your kind words and we look forward to hearing from you for your feedback on Conduit 2 when it is released.

Sincerely,

Team High Voltage

I don't think they're going to take much from my email at all, the short and vague response wasn't really what I was hoping for.

Question asked on gamefaqs by some random dude ::

How many netcoders are in your staff and how many years of experience do they have? If you know at all.

Yes this is a reference to the spectator glitch, it's quite game breaking i may add no pun intended.

I was on the verge of breaking my game by endlessly running it over with my car. I had my camcorder ready too.
---
Alot of people talk and ill probably never get dissed again, cause minnesota has 10,000 lakes to dump the pistol in.

His response ::

Just to clarify, the spawn glitches have nothing to do with the base code. Its the so called hackers trying to create there own lobby's and failing but these ghost lobby's still exist on Nintendo's servers. Its VERY region based because some people never even experienced this and some experience it all the time. It might seem like a lot to you, but people that get this issue are really in the minority. As more and more hackers get banned, this issue should disappear. Believe it or not, ive never had this happen once to me or anyone I know of playing around my area.

Just hang in there and have fun. More awesomeness is to come and I promise that we hear everything you guys are saying. So keep the suggestions coming!

Tony

Ya, that's why I got the spawn glitch day 1 before hackers even infected the game.

11  Gaming Boards / Call of Duty: Modern Warfare / Re: The Wii FPS we've been waiting for. on: August 21, 2009, 09:28:51 pm
I agree with BadDaddy on the preordering stuff.

Hackers will be here, no doubt.. but still, there's tonnes of game modes so the chance of you running into a hacker is LESS because they will most likely eff up TDM.
12  Gaming Boards / Call of Duty: Modern Warfare / Re: Maps? on: August 21, 2009, 09:45:04 am
With DLC , there will be 20 maps,without... 16... so who really cares hahaha, best Wii FPS so far anyways.

BUT... you guys read that article wrong... read it again::

- DLC not included. Neither is Wii Speak and Motionplus. All of the maps and modes are already on the disc, so there is no need for DLC.

I'm assuming that means all of the maps and modes that were available for DLC.. if not though, then oh well really! I'm so excited for this game regardless.

Ehh no voice chat, alright.. sure, but everything else makes up for it. And yay, I'm glad COD would be the game to save us ...

- Pretty much anything tagged with the name Call of Duty seems to sell these days, and for good reason. Infinity Ward's shooter series has been a consistently standout experience, from the original PC version through to the megahit Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Previously for the Wii audience, only Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War was available, but coming this November the same developer will be reworking Infinity Ward's modern day firefight to run on Nintendo's console.

As Treyarch stated up front at a Gamescom 2009 hands-off demo session, the Wii version of Modern Warfare will include all the features of the online features of the other versions. That means the entire leveling system, all the perks and unlocks, and everything else that helps make Modern Warfare such an addictive online experience. While World at War on Wii only supported up to eight players at a time, Modern Warfare will feature support for 10. This comes at a cost, unfortunately, as Wii Speak will not be supported. The game will also not use Wii MotionPlus.

That being said, Treyarch is confident they're delivering a better product than World at War. It'll feature host migration (meaning if a host leaves an online game it doesn't just quit out), there's a more streamlined process of inviting in friends to play, and the game will have fully customizable controls. You'll be able to aim with either the Wiimote or the control stick, and adjust a number of dead zone sliders and precision aiming modes. And if you have one sitting around, you can also use a Wii Zapper.

There's also the option for co-operative play, something that was not in the previous versions of the game. At any time while someone's playing through the single-player campaign another Wiimote can be turned on and activated so that a second aiming cursor shows up onscreen. While the main player will still control the gun and orientation of the screen, the second player can fire anywhere within the field of view and even pick up different weapons as they're walked over by the main player. This doesn't change anything about the game (enemies don't suddenly become more difficult when the second player is active), but it should be a welcome feature for anyone who finds the game too challenging or would prefer a more social gaming experience.

Treyarch said a number of engine enhancements have been made as well, with higher texture resolutions than World at War and better particle effects. After seeing Modern Warfare Wii in motion, however, it's wasn't particularly impressive compared to prettier Wii games like Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3. Even so, the version of Call of Duty 4 this is based on is still a fantastic shooter experience and features one of the best multiplayer suites around. Here's hoping the Wii version can stack up. Look for more information once some hands-on and multiplayer hours are logged.

The most HILARIOUS thing, on theconduit.info , someone asked HVSTony what he thought about CoD4 coming for the Wii and how it will compete with The Conduit, and he responds with "you guys haven't seen anything yet"

LMFAO... like as if HVS is going to pull something better. Maybe their next game will only take 5 instead of 10 minutes to join!!! Whoa! and maybe there will only be a 50% chance of getting the spawn glitch instead of an 80% chance!

Let's face it, HVS is a joke and hyped us all up for no reason at all. Treyarch and Infinity Ward put something together that is essentially up to par (except in terms of lag) with the 360/ps3 versions, even if it is late.

At least in pubs, we will not have to deal with 1 bar lag anymore, because the host migration (if a host can't keep a steady connection or he quits the game, the match ends, but the group of people stay and a new host is selected and the match begins in 9 seconds). I hope you major clans come back and I hope to see you all. I honestly can't wait!! Smiley Especially Zzz, I hope to see you on gamebattles to show you what I'm made of Smiley

Oh yeah, fixed Friend Invite system =) =)
