I'm so excited for the update even though I've already platted the 870 and I'm maybe 110 kills away with the NS2000. The SPAS takes up too much of the screen and is ugly so I'm not sure if I'll bother using it or not. I sort of want the 870 in my top 3.
With the patch it will actually be possible to see at long range! I usually just line up the cross hair and zoom in for cross-the-map kills. It benefits from aim assist so it's sort of like a quick scope though you have to adjust and aim slightly upwards for the head shot, or you could just go for the body and YY as quickly as possible to finish them off.
YY helps more at close-range though.

I liked the AKS before they nerfed it but that was ages ago. Now it's just a slower-killing less accurate XM8-Compact with (imo) worse iron sights. On release it was basically as accurate as the M416, but people whined about getting killed by it.
It wasn't even good, it was just overused since it was part of the pre-order bundle.
And I sort of like the PP2000, platting the Uzi actually made me appreciate it more. I've only used it post-plat for a game or two.
And they're buffing the other two launchers pretty significantly - the AT4 is twice as powerful against Infantry and flies at the same speed as the Carl while the RPG is going to be just slightly less effective against Infantry than the CG in terms of damage output.
It will still be less accurate and feature a shitload of drop but I don't care since I'm so close to platting it anyway.

I honestly don't mind the live cost, I buy games rarely and 13 months is longer than you think. Plus there was a bundle recently where you could get around 2 years of Live and 1600 MSP for $100.
Live is normally 59.99 for a year + 1 free month (69.99 with the recent price hike) and 1600 Microsoft points is around $29.99. I'm set for a long time though I'm debating on selling my 360 soon if it means I could build a decent rig for gaming.
Because I'd rather have Steam and a IRS load of emulated SNES/GBA games like Advance Wars and Super Metroid than play my 360 and have to deal with the humping Live community.

i don't like anything enough to use it horrendously post-plat, i feel like you start relying on it more as a crutch than anything.
with engineer gadgets its justifiable for me since everything that isn't the gustav and to a lesser extent the at mine is useless and totally outclassed.
and i really, really hate the ump. i much prefer the xm8 or the scar-l since they're good, look good and have great irons.

yeah the buff makes more sense for semi-auto shotguns, still not sold for using it on pumps since slugs still **** face.
haven't seen the new nerfed cross hair though. if we're getting the same style at-range one as the PC I'm happy since the super-tight one makes it hard to see your target at across-the-map humping montage material range.

oh my bad the Atacama fix is referring to an exploit that allows you to drop C4 from the top of the ship (you have to parachute out of the Hind to get there) and destroy the objective from behind cover. obviously this takes precedence over the Arica Harbor one since you can actually kill the guys doing it. Though since they're both geometry issues in regards to splash damage they might both end up fixed as a result. regardless, the nerfed explosives means C4 won't even be a problem anymore outside of the C4 UAV which they still haven't fixed. And the updated weapon stats are up http://denkirson.xanga.com/722757523/bad-company-2/The M60 nerf should have just made its damage 16.5-16.5 because now it's a less accurate, slower-killing version of the PKM. The MG3 nerf is very much appreciated since Medic should be weak at close range, and that thing was a meat-grinder. The G3 now does 20 damage at range again (hooray!) but its hit detection is still non-existent though it's no where near as bad now. Also it does 25 in range though with magnum that makes no difference in the kill speed. So they basically defaulted a mag ammo on it. Which is good. And buckshot is a bit better now, the Blackhawk buff makes it a 6 shot kill at any range (5 with warhead). No word on the current state of the VADS though.

when does this go into effect?
Soon? I said they have an ETA for consoles, because of the certification process they have to go through with MS/Playstation. Frostbite is a work-in-progress; every time they update anything or introduce more maps they have to completely re-write the source code, which could have particularly nasty, game-breaking errors if they were to screw up. If the patch was rushed on consoles it could take a month to get certification process a second time. On the PC if anything gets fudged up they could probably fix the error in a day or two since they can apply patches there directly.

The garage exploit is actually on Arica Harbor. No word of a fix for that.
And the Atacama exploit they're referring to is the fact that you can actually drive to the objective placed inside the ship (on the second phase, the part with the UAV spawn in Conquest) and destroy it before you advance, which actually breaks the game and makes it impossible for the Attackers to move up.
How they'll fix it is beyond me, but however they do it it'll fix Isla Innocentes and any other map where that is possible too. Mainly the D2.0 ones.

- All Weapons Bronze Insignia requiring an unobtainable bronze star for the tracer dart – requirement removed. - Improved Hit registration made through several fixes and some of the hitboxes themselves have been changed. This will increase the accuracy of guns. - Blue box chat window removed - The 2 second immunity when spawning/being revived will now be immediately removed either by firing, zooming, or any movement (move, crouch, jump). A Spawning Player can still orient passively in the Game World.. - 3D vision fixed. - Fixed slug shotgun zoom crosshair on PC so they better represent the long range accuracy. Crosshairs now close more on PC, similar to consoles. - Reduced slug shotgun hip accuracy to require zooming for consistent long range accuracy. Hip accuracy is now on par with the semi automatic weapons. - Fixed a bug on PC where the G3 would do less damage than intended. - Fixed VADS turning sensitivity on PC so it performs like the ZU23. - Reduced VADS push back and damage to balance it with the ZU23. - Fixed a bug where vehicle countermeasures would fail to remove tracer darts at high speed. - Reduced the reload time for vehicle countermeasures. - Slightly increased the AT4's damage vs armor to emphasize its anti vehicle role while keeping it balanced vs armor. - Increased the AT4’s top speed and acceleration so users spend less time exposed when firing. - Increased the AT4's splash damage so it competes with other AT weapons vs infantry. The AT4 still has the least splash damage of all AT weapons. - Reduced the splash damage of the Carl Gustav to bring it in line with other explosive weapons. The Carl Gustav still has the most splash damage of all AT weapons. - Increased the 1 shot kill range of the M95 body shot to counter its lower rate of fire. - Fixed a bug with the SVU that gave it better close range damage than other semi auto weapons. - Reduced all weapon damage to the MCOM by 50%. - Fixed an C4 vs MCOM exploit on Atacama Desert. - Fixed a bug with FOV when aiming the M1911. - Lowered the close range damage of the AN94 to highlight its long range role. - Increased the accuracy of the F2000 on the move to highlight its role as a mobile AR. - Increased the close range damage of the shotguns to give them a greater advantage vs slugs. - Slightly lowered the damage of the M60 to balance its accuracy advantage vs other LMG's. - Slightly lowered the damage of the MG3 at close range to balance it with other high rate of fire weapons. - Slightly increased the damage of the UH60.
MY GOD
I love you Dice, you're actually keeping people around for vanilla BC2 instead of forcing us to make the jump for the expansion. The update is dropping on the PC tomorrow apparently and they'll be seeking MS/Playstation certification soon, though there's no ETA as to when it will drop on consoles.
